I really like this modern vehicle. Well done LR for ditching all the retro looks! Retro is looking backwards, and this new Defender takes the brand forward. I wish it was cheaper, but used buys will be good value. People now have a sensible and undoubtedly very capable off & on road choice that beats the old-fashioned looking competition by a mile!
There-s nothing to stop diehards continuing to run the original LR, its all down to choice, but LRJ have to think of sales, & I bet this will sell really well to everyone! Give it a chance!

A complete and utter sell out to a market that is full of these gizmos laden school run nonsense. Where does this sit in the LR lineup of now virtually indistinguishable vehicles. BMW continues to do the same with the mini. Can you honestly see this round the farm with two winter ewes in the back. Missed opportunity here by a country mile. A no nonsense utility vehicle with just enough to keep the emissions and safety people content is what was needed to fill the gap in the market. In my opinion of course -

too bad they decided to give this DISCOVERY the Defender name. This car is great but it just isn't a Defender and indian management weren't able to understand what a DEFENDER really is. I really hope they sell well because that is one incredible car but I'm very dissapointed because I was expecting a new Defender that would rise it's name to the skies while landcruisers, patrols, pajeros and all others watched defenseless. sad day for defender lovers and purists.

Yes I'll most definitely replace my 2002 defender with one of these, the rolls of sheep wire, the fence posts, the spilled crovect and sheep nuts swilling around on the floor will add to the patina in no time at all. It's vitally important that I have an instantaneous 4g connection here in the countryside. err. hang on the phone doesn't work most places around me. Anyway if I ever start farming in Knightsbridge I know what to buy.

LR did a good job of arranging YT reviews and official premiere at the same time. Kudos for professionalism and the understanding of modern advertising. I would prefer more than one location (not the same spot) but then they-ve done a better job than most manufacturers; )
No make sure the new Defender is reliable as I would like to own it in a few years. and show Toyota that a -propa- 4x4 doesn-t have to be ugly; )

All they had to do was take a range rover drivetrain and interior and put it in the old defender body, and work on crash ratings. just look at the g wagen. I love land rover, but i think its going to take a long time for me to accept this

Please make sure that you will keep us entertained during the long winter months with roadtrips, not necessarily with friends, either in the UK or in Europe, the Alps or some mountain passes.

Great show
Interesting response from the jo
I personally like it, not sure if the price reflects on its purpose of rough off roading, can-t see it green laning!

love the defender, bloody scared to death about Land Rover reliability! Safaris must come with service centers nearby, else get a Toyota land cruiser

The Defender should be special and durable. With all those ECUs / air suspensions and Notorious LR reliability this will be a nightmare to own.
