It-s a bit too late. This car should have been put on sale immediately after showing it to the public or they should have waited to show it if they couldn-t make it available. People-s emotional reaction plays such a big part in sales and they want to be able to buy things on the spur of the moment. If you make them wait for two years to have something they look elsewhere. As in the fox and the grapes story. Bad marketing strategies, maybe NO marketing strategies. Also asking for 1000- in advance to book one makes it look as if there-s neediness of money in order to produce them. The time that was ripe is rapidly disappearing into the past. This car seemed AMAZING when first shown to the public.

VW changing the world? Not a chance! Only Tesla can do that. Only reason Volkswagen and other European car manufacturers are making the electric cars it's because of European Union CO2 emissions laws and regulations, if Volkswagen didn't produce electric cars they would pay billions of dollars in fines and penalties. So Volkswagen is trying to save their ass, and Tesla is trying to save the planet EARTH!
Volkswagen can produce electric cars all they want, but they better be ready for the rude awakening with their sales numbers.
It will be another Nissan Leaf failure story, selling 500, 000 cars in last 10 YEARS.

lol i owened 1993 jetta mk2 and then mk5 and mom owned mk6

i test drove VW adaptive cruis contron and it does not even come no were clost hondas lane assist and adaptive cruis control.

Imagine the queues at garages and supermarkets to charge these car up if everyone had one? How reliable is the electric motors and what kind of servuce charge will incur including other wear and tear issues compared to conventional cars? It's alright if you have a driveway or a garage but what if you live in multistory flats and conventional engine are banned in the future?

Teslas are already the cars that are changing the world. What do you think has made every auto maker get serious about producing EV's for the EV market. No one was truly serious about EV's until tesla made them get serious. They continued to to give us hybrids with 30 mile battery range or ugly cars like the Leaf, and Volt.

This isn't a leap forward, nor should it be. Leave innovation to the innovators. The most important part of this is going to be the price. It'll be fast enough, big enough and have enough range.
It just needs the right price. Undercut the Tesla M3 by at least 30%.

We need to stop making EVs out of steel. BMW got this right with the i3, a complete rethink of a car from the ground up with aluminium and carbon fibre making the majority of the structure. The ID3 looks to be a good start from VAG, but that weight!

We have to hide it from view. I know, lets paint stripes on it so no-one will notice. So everyone that sees it knows they are looking at a VW (badges) prototype. Out come the cameras that everybody carries these days.

We should just scrap the Golf 8 and replace it with the ID. 3. but sticking to tradition and keeping the Golf name plate. In that way, we would still have TSI, GTI and Golf R could get 4MOTION.
