2018 Mercedes-AMG GT C vs Porsche 911 Carrera T - Autocar

For the road, the GT C is the best version of Mercedes-AMG's V8 sports car. Is the Carrera T the sweet spot of the Porsche 911 range, too? Slow: Just a tipical Porsche fanboy. Finally Mercedes makes a beast of the car. GT S is a blessing, GT R was the fastest rwd car around a track for a couple of months. They have great interiors, one of the best if not the best turbocharged V8s in the world. And then you go and say great things about them, BUT HEY, PORSCHE IS BETTER, 370ISH HP PORSCHE IS BETTER TO DRIVE THAN THE AMG? What the hell does that mean? You make a video for the best car, test every car on the wet track and there is the amg gt r on one of the last places and the gt3 rs winsssss even though it cant match the gt character that the amg has on the road, but it also cant match the laptimes quite when it's dry. I'm just waiting for the AMG GT black series, just to show you what a front-mid engined rwd car can do on a track. :) porsche carrera T is better than the amg gt c. OK.

Hey Autocar, Hey Dan!
Awesome work, as always; )
Is that possible to compare any AMG to any McLaren?
It probably doesn't make any sense, and that's why I can't find any comparison in the web; P
but.
The AMG has awesome engines, sound and throttle response, and McLaren's very laggy and dull.
The steering and suspension looks like it is on the McLaren's side, but how much.
What about the position behind the wheel, seats, balance, traction, upshifts, downshitfs?
The question is:
What AMG needs to work on, to get closer to McLaren, and is it really that far away?
Or maybe it looks a bit different?
It looks like an interesting comparison: )
I hope You read it at least
All the best; )

The Porsche is the better car, but the AMG is the one I-d have more fun in. Both these cars are big money. The AMG looks like you got your money-s worth. The Porsche looks like you overpaid, even at 44k less. The AMG is the more aspirational car for the regular person wanting a moment in the spotlight as a reward for a lifetime of hard work. The Porsche is the daily driver for the rich who are tired of the spotlight. Because automotive journalists drive so many cars like this, like the dude doing this review, they-ve forgotten that the posters that lined their walls as kids were of the dramatic theatrical cars, flaws and all, not the sensible over-precision ones with fabric door handles.

As much as i Love Porsche.
The Merc. Looks, Feels, and Sounds like Batman's Car. The Porsche is Robins car.
Porsche for the Track.
Merc for Racing the women back to the house. The spaceship dimensions amaze you, the Long & Wide bonnet scares you, the interior warps your mind, and the Thunder of a cold start is mesmerizing. Simply put. A concept car from an Artists notepad. That you would never think they would actually build. One must actually see -, hear, & drive this car to appreciate how special it is. Great presentation. -

. I guess one can put it like this: The stick shift 911 for the car connoisseur that looks for pure engagement, unlimited reward and the real fun of driving whereas the double clutch shifted AMG GT is for Autobahn blasts, traffic light sprints and city cruise perfection, pot. impressing spectators more as well. both super great cars for sure but only one is a real drivers car, and that got my pick!

Porkers are very common place these days, and though they are great cars, the AMG is much greater fun. It has one of the world's greatest sound tracks, feels much lighter than it's weight suggests, is nice and pointy and overall is just so much more of a statement. Give me the AMG any day. And I come from being a long term porker driver. Nice review by the way.

Couldn't they have at least made the door pulls out of leather like a good attache case? And leaving out the crappy back seats to save so little weight, how about losing that weight
with some composite panels, or carbon fiber? Just looks cheap. I would do a TUNE to get at least 50lbs of torque so a $60K Vette wouldn't kick my ass.

The AMG GT range has become even more confusing than the the Porsche, how many variants and special editions have there been? Mercedes are having to try very hard to sell this car but it will always be too heavy and too clumsy for UK roads.

My 2018 T (exactly as reviewed) is my 19th 911. There is something very special about the 2018 T & 2019 T. 2 Years of production with the USA getting a very limited allocation. The last -narrow body- 911.

Always considered a life-s achievement to be able to fill out a check for a brand new AMG GT. Absolute monster of a car. It looks absolutely nothing like anything out there on the road.
