I've ben a Ramp agent for 2 years now, started with United Express with Swissport, to then do International flights and then work United Airlines mainline at Washington- Dulles, then got laid off in January of 2020 and now I work for Delta in Tulsa. So far, these are the best 2 years of my life, working as a ramp agent. The views are incredible, the work is amazing, just interacting with our aircrafts, passengers, cargo/baggage, and the entire operation make me happy, and it makes everything else enjoyable. This video pretty much covers what we do as ramp agent, and I wanna thank you so much for making this video, showing what we do and what goes on every single day! We do more than people think around the operation, and this videos covers all of it. Keep up the great footage. I love to marshal, pushback, load and unload all kinds of aircrafts, just cause it gives me that pride and sense of working in the airport!

I keep trying to tell people who asked me whats it like to load an aircraft, I tell em get the biggest heaviest bag you fly with, crawl under your dining room table and throw it as far ads you can, say 500 times, then do it soaking wet, hungry or in the freezing cold. yeah thats loading a dc9, 737, 727, a 757 ya can at least bend over at the waist and throw your bag say 1000 plus times in an 8 hour shift. 400 bags off 400 bags on, Avg. all in 55 minutes to turn a 757. then go to your next gate to do it all again and again and again. to be nice the tower will toss ya a dc9. kids play. lol. We could work up to 15 flights a day, on a 4 gate unit, I worked northwest MSP ramp and LAX.
damn, but I do miss it, the smell of jet fuel and exhaust the excitement, the rush of just being on the ramp. Thanks for the Videos you do!

Prior to 9/11 I worked at DFW airport for one of the airlines there. I loved being able to drive around the ramp and see the aircraft from that perspective. I even took my daughter to work with me one time and there was a Korean Air 747 that was there in between flights. She wanted to see it so we got out and walked around it. I then asked if we could go inside and look around since she had never seen an aircraft like the 747. We were lucky that they allowed us to do so. My daughter just recently reminded me of that day and she recounts it as one of her favorite memories. Sadly we lived in a much different world back then, but I am so grateful that I was able to do that for my daughter.

As a Delta employee for about 7 1/2 years now, 3 of those years were on the ramp in DTW and CVG. Thank you for covering this, and showing what we do. We are out there in all elements and people dont understand that we have to get off the ramp when lightning strikes close to the airfield for safety reasons. Its also so amazing to be in front of a 747 with its engines on taxi power and dispatching it (which is standing in front of it until the tow bar is released and to alert the flight deck by salute that they are good to go. It truly is an unforgettable experience that I will remember all of my Delta career.

I once boarded an airplane from ground level before. Following a trip to Charlotte, NC for spring break 2019, I flew Allegiant Air from Sanford, FL (SFB) to Concord, NC (USA. The Concord airport had a small terminal with 2 gates and served Allegiant flights from their Florida bases. And no jet bridges, just portable ramps.
PS: Since they had a small terminal, I literally ran into someone I knew who was going on my Allegiant flight back to Sanford! It would be a different story if it happened at CLT or Atlanta

Hey Jeb, love your videos so much. Quick question though, do live animals go through the same procedure as other bags do like going on the conveyer belts and through security and are they loaded in a different cargo hold or the same cargo hold as the other baggage is? Also, is temperature controlled in the cargo holds for live animals and for perishable items like food and things like that? Thanks again for the awesome videos, it's fascinating getting a behind the scenes peek at what goes on at airports.

Would be interested in how you have an initial idea for an airline video to what you have to go through to get security clearances; who do you contact, how do you plead your idea, who has the final approvals, and how you actually get clearances to film tarmac access, baggage underground, and how long from idea to video? Now THAT would be interesting. you mentioned Gretchan's Gazells, but still, you would have to thru a major process from storyboard to filming wouldn't you?

Back in 2017, I had the opportunity of flying aboard U. S. Airways to Washington National for a transfer to Columbia, S. C. The deplaning was in two parts. The regular front and the rear exit down to the tarmac and along the underbelly of the terminal right into the baggage claim. There's a lot going on down there, the vehicles, noise, and most of all walking under the wing next to the engine, the smell of the fuel exhaustion. Jeb, what a rush

It should be prohibited for pilots to turn on their engines on a platform where people are working (including APU.
Because the crew will be exposed to the toxic jetfume blasts. The cancer-causing fine dust particles are to concentrated between the terminals if the engines are started there. If this is ignored people will die from the daily effects of jetfume exposure!

Nice to see other airports. I was also a ramp agent. The most beautiful work was to marshal an plane to its spot (just being in front of these massif machines and guide them to there spot is so cool. Also I was an ALA and its a nice job.
Its a completely different world, I told friends as a joke that as I went to work Im also going on holiday.

I was on actual airport ramp a few times as a passenger. When I was kid first flying Continental Airlines on my was to Ft Lauderdale Florida from Newark NJ, we were actually escorted to of the planes by staircases just like the president or the pope. As an adult, I was on the ramp at Cincinnati and Los Angeles on airport shuttles both times.

Thank you for raising money for Cancer Research. I'm a survivor but my son lost his battle at 5 years old & at 17 I lost my father of cancer. I'm not battling with other chronic illnesses & limited income so I travel through your vlogs & see, dream & wish to fly & go on Amtrak trains. Thank you for your vlogs & please keep them coming.

Kinda answered my question that I have. So Im traveling with a connection flight, my luggage that would be checked in from the airport I left from wont have to be checked in again with my connection flight? Itll just be transferred to the next plane without me having to get it rechecked in again?

I don't work for a passenger aircraft, but I do work for FedEx Express, which is the airplane part of FedEx. I have been a load captain, tug driver, loader, and many other positions. The plane comes in, and then once it's chocked and coned, we begin work. It's amazing.

I work at LAX, have been a ramp agent for nearly a year. I work nights and it is backbreaking, especially with summer coming up, but it's a fun job at times! The thing I look forward to the most is driving the tug and seeing the sunset looks AMAZING!

That was quite an experience for you. Although you seem just as existing in every video! The perspective from the ramp agents view and finding out that there is only 1 person in the plane doing the loading was interesting.

This is an awesome video! I love seeing all the ground crew equipment and everything on the ramp. My favorite piece of ground crew equipment is the big cargo high loaders (usually called ULD loaders.

Jeb, this was not a good story. It is all pluff. No details. How does particular luggage code is read and how is it directed to different gates? Sorry, but this is one of your worst stories

Drove on the ramp at Los Angeles International, as an interline driver in the 1980s. We were the folks who moved bags between airlines. Fun work. The tech sure has improved.
