Some things I would like to say of Georgia:
1. BE CAREFUL OF SNAKES. So many tourists Ive seen go hiking, fishing, etc. in North GA and especially in those parts, a snake can come out of a bush and bite you. Ive heard about a man in my neighborhood who was walking his dog and out of the blue a snake bit his dog, and the dog died. And yep, it was a snake in a bush on my front yard, and the dog got too close to the bush. Be careful.
2. During spring and summer, there are wasps, spiders, and cockroaches galore. Make sure to put on bug repellent, and if you have a house, be sure to spray it down every few months during the seasons.
3. If you plan to visit South GA, DO NOT VISIT DURING SUMMER! The love bugs, mosquitoes, and gnats are obnoxious, but the humid heat is unbearable if you havent been to any deep southern state.
4. Trust me, driving on the interstate in Atlanta can be horrifying if youve never been. Nighttime is a whole different conversation
5. Make sure to check out smaller restaurants! Places like Marietta have a square, in this case Marietta Square, where you can check out all sorts of different shops, restaurants, and more!
Georgia is cool! Anyone reading this, visit Georgia sometime!

Can I just say, some of the worst parents, from my experience, are Southern mothers, when they come up North.
Where I am, I see a lot of travelers, from all over the world.
Every so often, ya get the kids that run around, climbs things, or try to get behind my counter, or god forbid try to steal something.
There is a solid chance that it's a Southern, French, or Indian child. I'm not racist, and I have nothing against their cultures or anything like that.
But there is a very, very clear percentage.
The only difference, is with French kids, they won't listen until I start yelling at their parents and threaten to kick them out. With Southern kids, I have to shout, OI! Get out from behind my counter! or Oi! I saw you put that in your pocket, put it back. God forbid I do that though, cause their mom will come screeching in. With kids from the local area, they take a single Oi! shouted from anywhere in the store and immediately stop what they're doing.
Now of course, there are exceptions, and I could also just be unlucky, or encounter the bad people, but definitely a clear line. And yes, there have been PLENTY of bad Northern kids and parents.

Nc has two rivalry BBQ sauce styles thank you very much. We've got Lexington Style & Eastern Style. Lexington being more sweet & Eastern being more vinegar based. Of course all this is your experiences in the south so I'm glad you pointed out that the South is different depending on where you go. That's very true. Even on a small scale. For instance if I travel just 20 minutes into the next county it will be quite different from where I live. I'm not going to get into details of why that is but you find that is the case all across the US. It's definitely a good idea to take thing one area at a time, maybe not even one state but rather a so many mile square radius, especially if you're from over seas. There's that guy from England that was shocked by how large just one state was. For instance, even in NC if you try to squeeze the coast & the mountains in a one or two week trip you won't get to enjoy one place to fullest.

Factoid: where he is standing is where several scenes of Forest Gump were filmed. As an Atlantan, I'd say this is pretty spot-on. We call it coke because Coca-Cola is made here. If your kid does get a stern talking-to, though not common, believe he/she absolutely deserved it. Definitely gain 10 pounds while here on the BBQ. try North Carolina versus Nashville. Yes, be careful of the heat. Brutal heat/humidity combo that is very different than say Arizona. Yes, we will certainly strike up a conversation. We mean well. Grits are amazing. Nice vid.

If you are disabled, the south is the best place to be. They will always make sure you are right. Thats the only exception to never let an older person stand up. Even if I tell them that its OK and Ill find another seat, they stand up and tell me to sit where they were sotting. Im blind by the way. Thats why everyone likes to move here, most times even the transplants are OK, usually the Southerners teach them how to act within their first 6 to 8 months of being in the south.

please dont order boiled/grilled shellfish unless you know how to peel them, it's a delicate process and you don't wanna end up eating a fish brain. generally if they come in a dish, like over rice and gravy or in a soup or etouffe, you don't have to peel them, but if that's your main dish, get ready to dissect a crawfish

Also dont be surprised to see people with guns. Most southern states are very gun friendly
(gun laws very from state to state) its common the walk into a store, or a restaurant, or just around town and see people open carrying firearms. Even people from the north or the west coast are taken aback by it.

Planning a trip to Disney World mostly because I watched Disney Food Blog and wanted to try it for myself. I've given up beef for a while but it looks like it's possible to keep to that on a trip to Florida.

Just because we speak slowly doesn't mean we think slowly. Can I get a coke? No, we only have Pepsi. No thanks, I'll just have water. Thanks for understanding our unique culture and sharing the good news!

Don't: Come down to the South and expect us to have to change anything about ourselves to suit you. If that's your attitude, there is a whole northern and western side of the country you can visit instead.
