I know it has become normalized to not give homeless people money. There's some weird notion that they're scamming you, and people accept this as true because they (surprise) don't actually want to give homeless people money. But it isn't like in the EU. When I was in France, there were scams _everywhere. _ Every tourist attraction had a horde of people around it trying to scam you in some way.
This isn't nearly as frequent in America. 99% of homeless people aren't trying to scam you in America - they just need money. If you have money, do the right thing and give them some. Yeah, maybe they'll go buy some booze with it, but if they're hungry, they'll go buy food first - so who really cares, you fed someone. People always tell them to 'get a job, ' but imagine how hard it would be to get a job in the US if you're homeless, don't have a vehicle, don't have clothes, etc.
Americans actually give more money to charity per capita than anywhere else in the developed world, which is awesome, but many people just ignore the homeless, and pretend as though they don't exist. Do the right thing and give them some money if you have money to spare, imo

If your in a city dont think your going to just jump on a city bus and travel around. You WILL end up in a part of town you shouldnt be in. Also these names referring to parts of the city are places to stay out of at all times, the hood, the ghetto, the wards not matter what number is infront of that ward, other side of the tracks, eeehhh not a good place, I myself wouldnt go there, dark part of town, ask more than one person if you are not sure if it is a good place to go. Like your hotel or call the non emergency number to the police department and ask, they will tell you. Last but not least remember this you are always better off safe than sorry, safety first.

I had my last night's hotel call me a taxi. I had no cash and my phone had no power.
I tend to be far too open. Do not talk about money ever, especially taxi drivers. I asked if he took credit cards. A few minutes later, he said You don't have any money. I said I had a card. Later he asked Could we stop at an ATM and you can get cash? I said I'd rather use my card. I hate when taxi drivers do this. It is so deceitful. They just don't want to wait to get paid.

Thanks for making this video! I really think we need to find a happy middle because crime does exist in the US, but not nearly to the extent the media portrays it. Americans even know that 99% of our news is all propaganda on both sides of the political spectrum. But there still definitely are some shady places you wanna be careful in! Mostly big cities or certain districts like in California or parts of New York.

i had a nice experience in new york with a taxi. The taxi driver said he was waiting to pick up his cousins from the airport and had some time. he drove us around a little and showed us different places where we absolutely have to go. great bars too. At the end he said it was fun (about 45 minutes) and he doesn't want to take any money for it. we wanted to pay, but he didn't take any money for it.

especially european people DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE GO TO THE HOOD OR ANY NEIGHBORHOOD KNOWN AS A GHETTO, if your white an european theyll do some bad shit to u cause they know your not from here. theres a saying in the hood if you aint from here dont come here its literally a warning, if your mexican, or your like phillipino or viatnamese youll most likely not be messed with

In Corpus Christi, TX in 2011 I had a 6 pack of Budweiser in my hotel room refrigerator. Nobody stole my medication. Anybody know how The Overtime Bar - 4535 San Padre Island Drive is going these days. Roland still drinking there. Tell him an Australian bus driver/big drinker has been back to Texas over the years but unfortunately not to Corpus Christi. Cheers

Amen to the car tip. I used to live in a rougher city neighborhood where I had to park my car on the street. I kept the interior of my car looking like I just bought it: absolutely nothing in sight. No cups, no coins, no cables, no crap. And in eight years of living there, I never had a single issue with my car being messed with.

My tip for being out in a city at night: before you leave a restaurant or bar, pop your head out onto the street and see how many people are out and about. If there's a decent amount of foot traffic, it's probably safe to be walking around. If people are sparse, play it safe and use Uber or Lyft to get yourself a ride.

Cabs are HORRIBLE here; Uber and Lyft work WONDERS in cities and wont rip you off by taking a longer route! (There are certain times where its more expensive, but you can always wait a bit and the price usually drops, usually at peak hours like bar close) so Id recommend using rideshare 100 percent
