Heading to Wales and not sure what to eat? Well there are a lot of common foods you will find throughout the UK, like Fish & Chips and pies, but there are also some real Welsh treats, our favorites were Bara Brith, Welsh Cakes, and Welsh Rarebit

4: 00 the Beers. The beer here in Wales can be wonderful, however you can also get rather bad pints of it. They have their own nicknames. Brains SA was known as Skull Attack. Felinfoel was the first beer to be sold in cans and was the beer I drank when I first started boozing. However, it is notorious as being temperamental. A bad pint was known locally as 'Feeling foul'. The worst hangover I ever had was from 3 pints of Feeling Foul. Tiny Rebel is from Newport, Brains is from Cardiff, Felinfoel is from Llanelli, Evan Evans is from Llandeilo and Tomos Watkins is from Swansea.

Are the mollusks locally sourced? I ask because even in FL mollusks seem to come from Asia. Got to spend a day in Cardiff while visiting England in 2016. Loved it. When to Dr Who Adventure. Didnt think of going over to the production studio to ask for a tour! DUH! Didnt want to spend time at the castle but walked the High street and actually ate middle eastern food. It was good. Had to connect with the train back to Grantham so we couldnt stay too long. It is a must do return destination for my daughter and I!

As a Welshman it's like seeing a unicorn when I encounter an American here. I always wonder why would you be here! I'd love to travel around the USA and Canada one day when I can afford to. I love Wales but never expect anyone outside of Europe to enjoy it much here. There is something about being Welsh though. I can choose between representing England or Wales and I would choose Wales every time

Hey Mark, I've never been to Wales but I hope to make it there in the next couple years.
One Welsh food that I have heard people mention is Glamorgan sausage. I didn't hear you suggest it in the video. Have you and your family tried it, and what were your thoughts?
To me, anything involving cheese sounds like heaven.

As a WELSH-MAN:
I would just like to say, Good video.
Proper Bara Birth is made with Cold Tea.
Proper Welsh Rarebit is made with melted Cheese in a Sauce-Pan with Mustard and Ale.
WELSH-CAKES are the best thing ever.
Lamb Cawl is to die for.
WARNING!
KEEP AWAY FROM LAVERBREAD!

I miss fresh baked Welsh Cakes. If you are in Wales try and get your Welsh cakes fresh. Stonebake in Cardiff Market do a few different types too.
Oh and if you are a vegetarian get some Glamorgan sausages.
I'm back in Scotland now with all it's local delicacies. mmm lorne sausage.

You did pretty well with the pronunciations. :) Bara brith is said like ba-Rha brief=fruit cake made with cold tea, and cowl like the scarf/what batman wears= ridiculously tasty stew.
Next time you're in Wales give the local meed a try. It's the best in the UK.

I make Welsh cakes for my husband we love them, Bake Stones as his mother called them theyre cooked on a griddle,
, Rarebit its made with a thick cheese sauce l think with beer added to sauce spread on toast then grilled broiled to brown the top

Bara breeth its pronounced
And Cawl is pronounced like the animal Cow, with an l at the end lol.
So lovely too see people visiting my Country, we dont get much recognition. When people think of the UK they tend to think of England only

I make Welsh cakes here in Oz on St David's day, 1st March. Bara brith is current bread. Bara is bread. Made with tea. My Nain (Welsh for grandmother) used to make Lava bread, we collected the seaweed.
