In Spain, you are not safe. Even in the departure area of airports, under a lot of CCTV cameras. There are organised groups of thieves, who divert the attention of the victim and their other partner steal the bag, etc. If you are a non-Spanish tourist then the police will do nothing practical to help you, maximum they will give you the Lollipop of the useless police report. No any investigation. They will destroy the CCTV recording of the crime. If you become the victim of crime, stay calm, block the credit cards. Make no hope from the police, they are not interested in helping non-Spanish victims. On complain the Director General of Police will try to cover up the wrongdoing of police instead of conducting an honest investigation, which feels like that it is the hidden policy of Spain to ignore the non-Spanish victim of crimes. The bitter reality of this Spanish police exposed to me. They were very rude, liar, dishonest and unkind.
[Police report-(150800/16) dated: 18-May-2016, Valencia airport],

Crimes can happen in any country but the behaviour of the law enforcement agency should be appropriate and according to the law. We have experienced the rude, unnecessarily aggressive police. They are also racist too.
One guy Davide Cicinelli reviewed on the Facebook page of Police Nacional - [I wouldve rated it LESS than one star, but that s the minimum. I was in Madrid close to El Sol, 2 guys have pulled a knife on me, and they took everything away from me (like wallet, mobile phone) then they ve started running, a police car was passing by, therefore Ive stopped them asking for help and in the meantime I was pointing the 2 guys. They answered me SE YO NO LA HE VISTO, NO PUEDO DETENERLO. That s the real third world. The worst police ever!

I know this video is from couple years ago
And I just want to say what I think about Barcelona and Madrid from my April 2019 2 weeks visit over there
Barcelona is very very safe theres no need to be so stressed and alarmed over there about scammers and pick pockets just be careful as you normally are in your daily life in your home city and enjoy what the beautiful city of Barcelona got to offer
The same thing goes about Madrid
Spanish people are so nice and helpful and never came across anyone that wasnt welcoming
The only thing I didnt like in Spain
the beggars from (east Europe)who approach visitors for money and can be annoying
Other than that Spain is wonderful

Bro Spain was chosen the safest country for kids to grow Up For several years in a row. Also being from Madrid, I can tell you that you can go to the worst neighborhoods and still nothing would happen to you. Like he said, there is a bit of pickpocketing in the centre(mostly against tourists, but they are mostly foreigners so check out for that. Thats about the worse that could happen to you here. and to be honest It doesnt even happen that much. just understand that guns are illegal here, so no worries about that, plus most spaniards are very welcoming and open so you should feel yourself at home. We generally love everyone from Everywhere!

My Danish national, friend Tom Christensen told me that in Barcelona, someone snatched his
camera and ran away. Tom tried to catch the thief by running after him but the thief was
a young and fast runner. After this theft, Tom went to the Police station to file the report.
Police asked him that what was the serial number of the camera. But Tom only knew the
brand and model name. So, Police in Barcelona refused to register the report.
I remember that once in Japan, I faced the same situation and Police helped me without
asking the Serial number of the Camera. And my camera was recovered from the thief.

Tourism in Spain is the 3rd major contributor to the national economic life then
why the Spanish police have hidden policy to ignore the victim of crime, tourists?
Why Spanish police play dishonest games with the victim of crime by using the
loopholes in the system, instead of helping them in practical ways?
Why Spanish police think that they can make fool the tourists by giving them the
lollipop of the useless police-report?
Why did Spanish police not collect or save the crime scene, crime evidence,
CCTV recording of the reported crime?

To be honest, you should visit all of Spain if you can, all of it is beautiful. You have the great weather and lively cities in the shout. The beautiful classic western movie scenery and rural towns from the center and the beautiful Atlantic side of the north. Also castles everywhere.
To be honest the scenery and sky is beautiful in here, sometimes I feel like Im trapped in a painting. And be sure to research were you are going, every region of Spain is different in culture and weather.

I'm from the U. S. and Ive traveled to Europe many times (Spain, Italy, France and Germany) and I have always felt much safer than in the U. S. Ironically I have been robbed not once, but three times in my hometown of Miami. While traveling in Spain I often got the question Is America safe? And my answer was always Not really.

Be very careful with immigrants from Eastern Europe (not with the Russians but people from a little closer, the Russians in Spain have high purchasing power, from North Africa, from America, that is in Spain. They are detected quickly. Be careful with drinking alcohol where you see these people.

Yeah so I would highly recommend to reconsider visiting Barcelona, they've had a crime peak for the last 6 months and the numbers just keep on going. Even the US has warned its citizens about the high crime rate that Barcelona is experiencing at the moment.
