Mark, it takes great courage to post a meaningful goal. Big salute to you to share it to all of us and going for it. I went for the same goal to end 2016 and I can say for myself that it was a huge learning process but I managed in the end because I was really determined. It helped that all my training led to my Tough Mudder race in Dubai, which is an amazing place especially if you have a friend to show you around and score discounts: .
My two tips for you sir is: 1) don't give up, falling many times is part of the journey especially when you learn how to bounce back from it 2) don't go too hard, some things have a limit - I built up a lot back problems and only recovered after many massages from Spa days.
Bonus: you're the best and don't let anything else convince you otherwise because it's just noise.
All the best!

Mark, I commend you for doing this. I've struggled with staying in shape and trying to keep weight off and I know it's not easy, but once you start I'm sure you'll follow through and be healthier and happier.
This year for me cutting out smoking (yes I know, the cliche new years resolution) is what I've chosen to focus on. Since I've moved to a part of the world where smoking is VERY prevelant, it's made me more of a smoker and I really need to end it before it starts to affect my health. We're not young forever unfortunately, haha.
To health and happiness in the new year!

Good luck man. Please keep in mind that DIET IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN WORKING OUT. If you're diet isn't on point, working out is complete shit. Good fats, good protein, veggies, some legumes and beans (if they're properly soaked to remove the lectins. I encourage anyone to fact check this as well. With good will power and discipline, smooth sailing. P. S. a cheat day/ meal once in a while WILL NOT HINDER PROGRESS as long as it's one day a week. Again good luck and much success.

Hi Mark, I'm a long time fan, first time commenter. Your videos helped my wife and me backpack Europe for 5 weeks last year. I want to share my weight loss with you. In Jan 2015 I weighed 289 and had a belly like yours. Now I weigh 201 by eating a low carb high fat ketogenic diet and getting about 10, 000 steps a day. I wish you the best in your journey and hope my comment helps. All the best to you and your family in 2017.

I'm so happy that you are doing this. Everyone is right, do it for your kids (lots of active days ahead and running around with them, your gorgeous wife (I can tell she loves you dearly regardless, but be healthier for her, and most of all, for yourself! I can't wait to see how you'll look like at the end of this year (2017! Wishing you all the best!

Good for you! Best thing I can say is learn what you are eating and what you are burning. Calories in and out. Simple as that. Learn that stuff and you can easily change your lifestyle. You also get so disgusted by alot of foods/drinks when you learn what is actually in them and what they do to you.

Wolt I think you will find that you have reached your perfect target weight - You've just not reached your perfect target height: )
I'm confronting a similar problem in the new year so my thoughts are with you and let's hope we are both successful!

In 2012 I did a lifestyle change and lost 65lbs in two years and have kept it off. Just be patient and do something you can sustain long term. Now I focus on clean eating and quality food. Oh and I never stopped drinking beer! Cheers!

Good for you! It's really hard to get into the habit of consistent exercise, I'm sure getting a trainer or on a workout plan is a good way to encourage yourself to stick with it until it becomes more habitual.

I think it's a good decision you made. As we could see in the video your belly became quite big in the last time and doing something for your own health is never a bad idea. I wish you good luck!
