Some sporting events are becoming less popular, like the Olympics, the Super Bowl or the world series, but others like the men's and women's football world cups, rugby u and cricket tournaments are on the rise. Many golf courses in countries like Great Britain are closing. Swimming has grown in some areas and is shrinking in others, in some cases pools are beginning to close permanently. Should you be worried? Will pools close in the next few years or will we see more and better swimming pools?

Swimming in the Water always nice and the goal at all. But the effort for each single training, the learnings, couple of year developing, practice in different minds as tecnique, tests, physics, and for to having fun - takes lot of time for each practice, again, and again, each Week, each Month, each Year.
Thats the general difficult in swimming since ever. Instead other sports are easy to practice and making fun with quick developing and fun at its.
For to ease this massive problem in swimming sport I've created a high useful and even very fun making principle, which is named VITS.
I'd sent information to you already.
VITS happens stationary, right at home, for preparing and increasing skills in the effectivest and easiest way you can imagine, even, some cant imagine the new opportunities.
The effect inside the Water is massive, in technique and in Performance - it takes a quarter of time and far less, do understand and to be able with some skills that it takes in the Water.
And VITS makes fun at its own, with detailed instructions, films and music.
VIST works unexpectable amazingly, it makes fun, effects comes insame quick and secure.
I've mentioned that internationally, but just a fracture of athletes, Coaches and Institutes believe or open for thinking about new innovations.
Some single individual Athletes using VITS, highets goals, unexpected and inconceivably.
I'd looked out for Partnerships, for some VITS would be the killer of own products, some are too busy for new things, some doesn't beleave, some are. what ever.
Ok, some has'nt fit to me and VITS.
So, no Cooperation yet with international partners.
The project is a bit to heavy for myself in further international developing - I am open for Partners in general.
Till then I'm looking forward till VITS will have its outcome wide in Public.
Being an athletic swimmer is going to get harder and harder, year by year, swimmers and triathletes the same.
It takes alternatives and options.
Best regards
Peter

In Prague, more swim coaches can make living now because there is a fair amount of endurance athletes that want to race IM and its derivatives. So they take courses and individual lessons. Actually none of my friends who were competitive swimmers swim regurarly anymore. The 30 plus old people that wake up at 5am to be in the pool at 6am (local habit) are mostly triathletes. A lot of them are new to swimming. So swimming as a competitive sport and popularity of swimming is not one and the same. If IM grows swimming could end up with less kids in competitive swimming but more people, new to swimming, actually training in the lanes then ever before. Most of these new swimmers think it is a shame they could not learn how to swim properly when they were kids and had some mobility. They tend to sign in their kids for swimming so that they can learn the proper technique.

Swimming is on fire where I am. You have to go online and register for a lane. That said, a lot of pools do no favors to the sport as a whole. They only welcome teams, small children, and the disabled. This attitude will keep swimming in the dark memory of most adults. They think, swimming, oh, that thing I did when I was 10 years old', and that will continue to pigeon-hole the sport as being a small thing for kids that does not deserve a large public investment in facilities. If you think about resistance training, most people in the USA live in a short drive to 4 or 5 cheap competing facilities that are effectively free on a per day price. Pools? To get to a truly public, long-standing equal access facility, most adult people need to cough up at least $5 per visit (which goes way up if you don't go every day) and drive a long distance.

My children are swimmers aged 12 and 9. I dont know how popular the sport is, but it is getting far more competitive. Times that would have won regional (multiple US states) championships a few years ago now get you a 3-6th place finish. I have a hypothesis that the concern over concussions is causing some of the top athletes to choose swimming over American football and other contact sports. I also think that interest in the sport is driven by superstars who get a lot of media attention. Phelps and Ledecky inspired many in the USA. I suspect that when a country has a famous superstar swimmer, that inspired a lot of young people.

One of our local pools will be closing for 3 months shortly. The problem for now, is not enough life guards. We hire one, and two quit. I expect indoor facilities for baby boomer generations to be in big demand. We can get good exercise with no impact. Most prefer the water aerobic classes. Me, I am still swimming laps. One friend said there are lots of 'floaters' and few swimmers. Floaters to him are people who swim a very 'relaxed' swim and don't really 'work out'. I will get in my 3 miles again today. Oh, you also need a lane pretty much to yourself for swimming the fly.

This video covered a lot of topics. I can add information as a senior mile lap swimmer for you. I enjoy sharing a lane with other lap swimmers in my Seoul YMCA better than in my USA YMCA where there is almost no lap swimmers during the day hours I have gone. The camaraderie in the busier Seoul YMCA is vital to me. I may have to stop and move past slower swimmers. but the sharing is so nice. Thanks and please keep up your reseach. These YMCA pools are so old and I value them so much!

I dont understand why a game is being overtaken by a sport. You dont train 10 times a week for a game but you do for swimming. Lucky here in Aus the sport has always been an average thing. Like 1 out of three adults you meet have swum competitively or in a club program. I feel vulnerable about this topic because the sport takes up my life everyday. I need competition around the world to keep my standards high and the sport fun.

M from India and saw the first Indian to qualify gp A time for olympics(gr8 deal for our Ind swim). He didn't make it in semi fin. Then I saw many indians in twitter saying how disappointed they are in him and he should be not sent to big competitions. This is the story of a country whose 90% funds goes to cricket.
N the story of every swim team which won't be appreciated n supported in their country until Michael phelps is born

We have a great opportunity to get people immersed in the flow of swimming and beyond yet these schools are teaching youth to be afraid of the world as the politicians destroy our fabric of unity. Swimming will prevail. Lost two jobs and the gym near me and have been out for two years. I'm still encouraged by learning through your teaching and the vids you create to share inspiration

You're right.
In the city where I live we had public outdoor pools/baths, and one fantastic public pool in particular, beside a river. Everything is gone now. Its either join a gym/pool for a ridiculous price or open water swimming in rivers (some tidal) lakes or oceans.
Gladly the open swimming is gaining popularity (always keeping safety in mind of course. )

A retired boss of mine swam everyday for decades. She used to go to YMCA at 5: 30am during work weeks. Now I am hitting my community pool at 9: 30am daily (just retired. I hope swimming as a sport and as recreation will go on forever. Since most ppl dont have a decent sized pool in the backyard, it does take dedication and membership fee to swim regularly.

There are more pools/swimmers now than I have ever seen before. No one entity should sell itself for profit. For maximum profit, there must be a diversification to attract more than one desire. Example: YMCA offers child care, basketball, group classes and lap swimming. Restaurants are more successful when they are among other restaurants.

I dont think you or your audience understand economics. If more people are interested in swimming the pools wont get crowded because the demand for pools will have increased. Pools will be more profitable due to increase in demand and thus more pools will be built. More pools built means less crowd, lower cost.

Swimming is not dying, this sport is really good for me, which i have problem with the ankle, and it has more calories burn than running. I can swim 3 hours a day it makes me sleep very well at night, and my insomnia is also gone, usually i slept at 2-3am, now i can sleep at 11pm.

Come to Singapore! There are so many competition-size public pools (26 pools in an area of 700sqkm. And it only costs less than USD$2 to enter. Heck, I buy a monthly pass for less than $7USD for unlimited pool usage (before the pandemic.
