How to Get THIS Shredded (JUST DO THIS)

t want to miss this video. I-m going to tell you exactly what it takes to be lean and muscular year round no matter what level of body fat you have right now. By the end, you-ll know what the three most important things you must do if you are looking to lose fat and get ripped. The discussion was sparked by a viewer question for our AX Jeff series. The question reads: -Hey Jeff, how do I get absolutely shredded like this guy? I mean, I know you know a thing or two about being crazy lean and hell, I-d even settle to be your level lean if I could. Any guidance would be appreciated! - It-s not often that I get used as the fallback example for being lean, but when standing next to the world-s most shredded man Helmut Strebl, it-s the only logical place to be. We all know that in order to lose weight and get low body fat you have to establish an eating style that creates a hypocaloric state. This means, that you are taking in fewer calories than you are burning off in order to drop body fat. That said, there are many different ways to do this. You can follow one of many different diet plans like Keto, Carnivore, or Atkins or even adopt a different eating style that manipulates the hours within with you eat your foods like Intermittent Fasting in order to get this to happen. Regardless of which you do however, realize that there are variables from person to person that ultimately dictate the effectiveness of the plan for getting you to your goals. I like to use the analogy of creating a hole in the ground. There are many different ways to do this as well. You could use a shovel to dig one of course, but as Jesse suggests there are meteors that can blast giant holes in the ground, your dog could dig one and the Earth itself could spontaneously drop into a sink hole. The fact is, if you chose to dig with a shovel, the variety of shovel blade and grip would represent the differences between people and the rate at which they see results (and the ultimate level of fat loss) when they follow these diet plans. Once you put your shovel in the ground however you are digging. And digging the hole is the process of losing fat. The deeper the hole you dig the lower your body fat level will be. If you think of it this way you can quickly see how things like the ability to focus on the task at hand, remain consistent with the digging and not getting distracted by social pulls would enable you to dig a hole deeper and deeper even if it proceeded perhaps at a slower rate than someone else you know using the same method. There is a genetic component to discuss as well. Someone like Helmut who has superior muscle building genetics is always going to find it easier to achieve insane levels of low body fat than someone else who struggles with foods and eating or doesn-t have the muscularity that looks like his even at low levels of body fat. Maybe genetically you-re digging with a spoon and he is digging with a backhoe. It doesn-t matter, if he stepped away from the machine and you kept digging you would ultimately have a deeper hole. And that is the point, consistency of effort is ultimately the thing that determines how low you can go. You must decide as well what you will do when you encounter your first obstacle. All of us at some point in a weight loss and fat loss journey will plateau. Here you must either change the tool you are using or at least be willing to do an honest assessment of what your meal plan looks like right now to find the areas you can make improvements. Sometimes, these sacrifices are too much for some to handle and while losing their body fat they also lose their minds. This makes it unsustainable for them and not something they can do long term to get ripped and stay shredded. If this is you, I would implore you to take a step back and instead find the level of body fat that you can maintain that keeps you happy and healthy. Good analogies.
To lose fat 1) yout body can't be in the presence of insulin, 2) needs to be in a caloric deficit. It's that simple, but the problem most face is they're only at baseline insulin for 3hrs or less (in the early hours of the morning before breakfast) it takes up to 12 hrs roughly for all insulin to leave. Which is why most spend months slowly making any progress.
Another issue is daily caloric deficits, all you're doing is setting up an impending plateau as your thyroid lowers your metabolism everyday until it reaches the same level of calories you're putting it. If calories burnt at rest match calories taken in (even in a deficit) then you won't really burn anything. You also put muscle at risk, as the body will rid it to slow down your BMR plus many other metabolic changes.
Solution? Alternate day fast, body won't have time to think it's in a state of famine, muscle loss is reduced by 4x that of daily calorie deficit, and you'll have long enough baseline insulin to make a impact. I wouldn't recommend keto, it has benefits but a lot more negatives and headache then needed to achieve fat loss. Literally, fat loss is what you eat, not exercise, took me a few years to work this out, trying various things. But muscle gain is beneficial of course, and the heart and lungs should never be neglected.
As for getting to this person's level, doesn't look healthy at all, he'd be the first to bite the bullet in a famine/survival situation. But it's possible to get this lean, would just require long consistency. As Jeff says, everyone's body is also different, genes/DNA determines how much fat and where it is deposited.

wanna be that lean? heres how to do it IF you are not overweight.
dont eat ANYTHING for 3 days
drink only 1 cup of electrolyte water a day for 3 days and on the 3rd day BEFORE you workout drink beetroot powder water with ginger and green coffee bean extract (to allow full blood flow) and train HEAVY and hard for 1 to 3 hours.
you will lose some muscle in the process but it is actualy very healthy to lose muscle once in a while to get rid of the damaged protienes and replace them with new ones later.
BUT keep in mind, if you have thick skin than you will most likely never look like this guy. everyone's skin thickness is different. most Caucasian people have thin skin.
then take your pic

Hey, Mr Cavalier. I have been watching your videos for over a year now and through consistent training and maintaining a caloric deficit(unfortunately also excluding carbs) I have managed to lose about 15% body fat. Started at 33 and now at 18. What I have seen that everything is more of a psychological mindset that you have regarding your food and training rather than the traditional -do this, eat that- approach. What advice do you have for people that need to get this imprinted into their mindset and live a healthier, more active life, rather than have a -6-pack- that they are going to lose in a few months?

Good video, thanks! I have a 31. 5- waist and my goal is 29. 5-. The rest will fall into place, namely better look: ) After accomplished, I'll be bodybuilding heavily: ) Woohoo! A big reason to do it is to be a good example for whole food-plant based diet since it has helped me so much. People are always wondering about people protein and muscle. I hope to be a better example to help show it.
Even healthier for a type of oatmeal is banana slices on top. Not for everybody, but other fruits are just as good, such as the example of blueberries. I know it's still a no go for a lot of people, though.

I have been benching, for example, 170 for 5 I want to lose a little bit of weight so that I can be leaner for the summer, everytime I-ve done this I-ve started to lose muscle and I am now not able to get the full 5 sets at 170 for 5 reps. I weigh about 140 pounds and am 5-5 and eat about 120g of protein, but I still seem to be losing muscle and I-ve done the tests for my calories at rest and it I-ve been probably at about a 400 calorie deficit, I don-t know how to stop losing the muscle when I-m trying to lose my weight, is there something I-m doing wrong?

Hey Jeff, I'm still a teen and have been guided down the path of weight lifting and eating healthy. I've been given so much information, watching videos, talking with others, etc. I've made progress, but I feel like I'm not getting to the goal that I want. I feel like every time I look in the mirror I can't appreciate the progress that I've made. I eat healthily, and I train a lot, but can't seem to lose the little bit of fat that I see, no matter what others may say. Can you help?

Does your extreme tone weight loss only include weight lifting? Does it include any aerobic exercises? I really get tired doing a lot of aerobic exercises and do not want to do any weight exercises. And when I do it opposite. When I do weight exercises, I don't want to do any aerobic exercises. Is your program mainly nutrition and weighted exercises? I can do that if that will eliminate or reduce the aerobic exercises and still lose weight.

When we say that we need to workout a certain muscle twice a week, does it need to be direct or can it be indirect like Day 1 would be direct chest/triceps then on Day 5 lets say i'll do shoulders/triceps which will include a close grip barbell press/triceps dips? Is this considered as hitting the chest twice? More importantly, is this even good? haha!

Jeff, can you please also address a strategy for people fighting the uphill battle of Insulin Resistance? I did the Butter Bob Briggs thing, and got almost as lean as you. Then it switched gears on me and I don't think I changed anything. My body learned how to get fat even without sugar or something. I don't even know what.

I've made some change to better myself like cut down on junk foods, do more intense variations on every exercise I can, do different exercises and spice up the variations of exercise to target every muscle targeted to the max efficacy humanly possible. And most of all train smarter and harder than the last time I trained.
