negotiable for the exercise in question, others will vary and help you to establish your motor engram for the movement. This motor engram is a stored neuromuscular pattern that helps you to more reliably fire a sequence that is necessary to perform the exercise. The only problem is, this pattern could be ingrained incorrectly and this can lead to injury and slowed muscle gains. For exercises like squats, deadlifts, biceps curls, pushups, bench press and others. proper weight lifting form is critical. The exercises are just too big to be performed incorrectly. The downside of doing them poorly is a high risk of injury. The best workout form and the correct form for any of these lifts will only come from practicing each move perfectly. Notice I didn't say just practice since only perfect practice makes perfect. Spend some time learning the proper way to lift and the benefits will last you long into your later training years. For a complete workout program designed by a sports medicine physical therapist who knows the benefits of good weightlifting form, be sure to head to and get your ATHLEAN-X program

How does proper form relate to the overweight / obesity epidemic? Proper form in essence creates a more efficient movement and thus conserves energy. How does that help the 73 percent of Americans of whom fall within the overweight and obese category? The majority have thus spoken that they are not interested in -perfect form- but more interested in utilizing their stored energy for better health. When will the industry wake-up and listen to the people instead of focusing on the minority of egocentric professionals more interested in aesthetics versus our societies health, fitness and longevity? universalhealthfitness. net

Hey Jeff, some things I would like to see is a general eating routine you would recommend with whatever variations you would make based upon body types(ectomorph/endomorph, and also a breakdown of how and why you choose to pair the exercises you do in your routines. I know you've done the action film star regiment videos as well which I would be grateful if you could elaborate on as I know most of them go for aesthetic over size so an explanation what ways do you vary their routines to achieve those goals would be nice. Hope to hear from you soon, thanks!

So this is just like trying to become autonomous at the form (perfect) and then upping your game, I agree, im also doing a level PE so watcing some of your videos help even though some of the stuff I have to put into simpller terms so for this the motor programmes etc, but my problem is I have been benching and doing barbell curl and all of a sudden my wrists have been starting to hurt and I dont know why I havent changed my form? Any idea why

I'm disliking these videos more and more. He talks way too much and does very little demonstration. The only thing I learned from this video is that form is important. Okay well how the hell are we supposed to know what proper form looks like if you don't show us? Everytime I watch one of these videos I just skip to the demonstration. Very disappointed with this.

What's the proper form while squatting. I've heard just to go until your quads are parallel to the ground. But one of my buddies that's going to school to be a trainer said to go down as far as you knees let you but what's you get down you come back up. He said this is less stress on the joints and builds stronger ligaments with your muscle

Thanks for your great posts Jeff! I've been struggling to get the growth in my triceps I'm looking for, specifically the long and lateral heads. I seem to get all the gains in the medial head which is good for size but isn't getting me the -horseshoe- that I'm looking for. BTW, the step back tricep pull downs are great!

That happened to my wrist/forearm. Make sure your form is correct. Don't let an improper grip apply more pressure to areas when it isn't necessary. ALSO be sure to stretch! I can't emphasize how important stretching is! It helps muscles grow more and also prevent soreness. Let me know if this helps next time you workout.

Great video! I realized form is important a little late though, I got injured playing soccer and was left with tendinosis, now i have to fix my patterns and i also learned that i have imbalanced hips/core/lower back muscles. Sure would love a video on the best way to strengthen them and become more flexible!

Im not to good at squats, I tend to lose balance of the bar on my shoulder, it tends to topple side to side a bit and starts hitting the squat rack on the side as I am doing the squats. Although when I do a slighly lower weight I think I do it a bit better then but I know I am capable of doing more.

Hey Jeff
I've recently gone up in weight on my dumbbell press but I struggle to get into a start position safely without a spotter. Do you have any techniques that help get those dumbells up to start the set? I feel like it's holding my chest gains back.
Thanks
