learn to use the power of the Snapshots feature to save the results of every action and quickly cycle through them Phil: This is a great tip for many actions that have been purchased. If on the other hand, you are recording your own, you can start the action recording by selecting the Background layer (typically your main image anyway) That way, when the action is applied, it is using that as the starting point. Finish your action by placing all of the adjustment layers in a group and collapsing it. Once you have recorded multiple actions in this fashion, you can run each of them, and they will only apply to the background layer. From there, you can turn on or off the visibility of each one to see the impact they have. You will even have the ability to layer the actions and adjust opacity of the effect in each, even masking portions of them to vary the effect. Technically, I suppose you could even edit the pre-made action you've purchased to include this as a first step. Make a copy of the action first so you preserve the integrity. You could separate your actions that do this into a collapsible master group called Background Only or something similar. That way, you'll have the original that can be applied to any layer, or the new one that impacts only the main image. It would faster to do the step insertion than running and deleting every action you have, and would allow you more flexibility in your application.
This background selection step is the way that Greater Than Gatsby builds all of their Photoshop actions, and I'm assuming they do it for this specific reason.

I love your energy, knowledge and approach and explanation. But for me it's just too much knowledge, I can't absorb it fast enough in practice. It takes me lengthy procedures:
I bought 4000 ACTIONS. That is, I have to manually go through all 4000 and do MASTER action for each set of 1000 and I can see them in each new picture in the future.
Importing actions is tiring and tedious, too slow. Can't these two be done faster?

Love the new production. From the music, the lens, camera, lighting, and grade choices, and the SUBSTANTIALLY better audio quality. Your content has always been top shelf. Now your production value matches it. Great job. Little doubt you'll be the biggest Photoshop guy on this platform.

Hello I am totally convinced and enthusiastic about this video but unfortunately there is this snapshot function in Photoshop CC c2020 you can no longer shoot a similar video that could be reproduced in Photoshop CC 2020, it would be mega cool.

I would still delete the last one, especially if you have multiple master actions, or decide against all of the actions. It still saves you the trouble of having to delete it later if you have to. Awesome tip tho!

reply

Very nice, many of us tend to revert to individual processes. Understanding processes in real-time is difficult but this tutorial managed it well.
