I have two examples for you to follow along and develop a better understanding of Layer Styles or Blending Options, and how to take advantage of the same to target the skies

Not easy as pie. I have tried over and over again to replicate your results. Does not work. So to those who are successful good for you. Blendif has never been a viable solution despite its proponents. There is one tiny switch that must enabled otherwise your flow does not work. It's called knockout If not enabled, then none of this works. There must be an easier and more elegant solution. It seems mask and refine is the alternative.

Many of the buildings I shoot here in Phoenix AZ are covered in glass windows that reflect the sky. Most often our skies are clear blue an devoid of clouds. I like replacing the boring cloudless skies with clouded skies. Please show me an easy way to show reflections in the glass of the clouds in the replacement sky.

Thank you so much for this vid. I have a project and needed to do a film poster, the issue is, my photo had trees which had little gaps of the sky in them( I wanted to change the sky to night, and was stressing out. But your tutorial was the best. THANK YOU!

There are many like me who are shooting long exposure and so not only the sky is blue but also the water. Following your instructions with that house, I added the mask, and brushed over the water with great results. Thanks!

This is great, thank you. It worked with a grey sky as well, you just do the blend if with grey! Normally I don't have to replace a blue sky, I have issues with cloudy weather. This makes it so much easier, thanks again!

Wonderful. If the scenery is good but the sky is boring, I always have to shoot using a tripod multiple shots and go for digital blending! Now this technique seems like a cake walk! Let me try this! Thank you.

I still use this technique. The sky replacement feature in Photoshop does not work for me when I have a sun star on the horizon. The technique shown in this video work perfectly. Thanks for the video.

Tried this on multiple photos with trees. I always either end up with halos around the trees or if I adjust to remove halos the sky shows up in the trees. Like it starts making the trees disappear.

my pic has lots of shade of blue along with the sky, doing it with blend if seemed impossible, I tried color range then manually painting out the extra. that worked better.

This is brilliant - simple and quick. It worked a treat. Thanks, Unmesh. Can you do the same with the virus? Replace it with puppies and kittens?
reply

Thanks again Unmesh. I just used your technique on a UK winter sky with bare branches and it looks (almost) perfect. You are a great teacher.

years of layer masking and zooming in/out with small brushes for intricate details and you knock it out of the park with Blend If. AWESOME!
