NR200P V2: A New Liquid Focus

NR200P V2: A New Liquid Focus

At CES 2024 Cooler Master revealed the NR200P, and updated to the wildly popular small form factor case that kicked off the recent Mini-ITX craze. In this video Adam walks you through the changes and also shows off a couple other interesting cases. Look how they massacred my boy. They threw away all the versatility of the case. They should done the front to be reversible so you can build it inverted and that's all it needed to be perfect. But nooo. The remove the option to use a good air cooler, force to use a riser and vertical GPU, removed the chance to use and ATX PSU, removed the space to mount an SSD or custom WC pump/ reservoir. Really messed up

“Kicked off the sFF craze”? What? Lol. The craze was far before it with Silverstone and many other manufacturers. Even before CM the dancase, fractal designs and a slew of others captivated the market but this gave everyone an entry point.
These changes to the Nr200P will be a welcome change!
NR200P was around 100. It will now be 150+ because of the pcie extension cable that will be required.
I will get the Lian Li A4-H20. Smaller, great performance and likely just as cheap if not cheaper!

Coming from a v1, sounds like Coolermaster hasn't seen that the supermajority use air coolers (check out the subreddit) and barely ever mount a GPU vertically or even mention that's something they want to do. Adding room at the top for an AIO is great, but forcing vertical mount GPU is a deal killer. Just give us more room at the top to mount an AIO or a radiator for a custom loop and leave the horizontal GPU mount please.

Cooler Master might of just peeved off the ITX community with these changes. One of the biggest things about the original NR200/P was how accommodating it was for whatever build you wanted to do. Vertical or horizontal mounting, air or liquid, seeing people fit matx or ATX in the case. This just isn't going to fly with this case. V2 is a real step back from the V1.

Clearly the V2 hasn't fixed the bottom standard height fans. I rather have less room bottom clearance and have more room for taller fans.
The slim fans are basically a step above useless and don't move enough air and you often have overheating under stress. Even if they had to make the case 15-20 mm taller it would be a better overall solution.

Disappointing. I have both the Max and regular NR200p and chose to stick with the regular as it performs a lot better compared to the Max. The problem with the Max layout is when running a hot GPU (7900XTX in my case), the AIO gets saturated with hot GPU air as its the only point of exhaust. Looks like I will stick with my aircooled V1.

They ruined the case, it was selling well because:
1. It was cheap
2. Had minimal hardware restrictions
3. Was relatively small / good looking
Now that the 2nd point is not the case anymore it makes the 1st point also irrelevant, because for budget builds you will need an aio raising the budget for no reason

So basically they gave us the NR200P Max minus the psu & aio in other colors besides grey. I have a Black V1 literally brand new that I even 3D printed a top hat for so I could comfortably add a 240 rad & fans up top. Changed my mind to a A4-H20 after printing the top & now it just sits in it's box unused.

Disappointed with the new NR200P. Top mount 280 is nice but they’ve removed flexibility by forcing vertical mount gpu, so air cooling is no longer possible. I would have preferred if they made the NR200 mATX compatible instead and increased the width by a couple mm for more air cooler clearance.
reply

this is just a direct downgrade from the versatility of the classic nr200/p/max case.
sincerely hope this is to be released as a watercooling focused alternative of the silhouette alongside a proper refresh of the classic layout and not a replacement in the line-up...
thanks for the coverage

This feels like the NR200P Max without hardware. I'm really happy with my Max but it is more limiting than the V1. Also I'd love to switch out the front panel connection of my Max for the new ones because of USB-C I really hope (but doubt) there will be the option to buy just that part and swap it

Hope Cooler Master is listening to feedback, because this design direction is not great.
No rear fan, meaning GPU will cook the radiator.
Slim fan underneath GPU - why?
No mATX motherboard support!?
They should've just added the extra 20mm height needed to increase compatibility.

reply

meh, what a waste not moving the IO shield of the GPU more to the top creating more space on the bottom for a second 30mm radiator + 20mm for two 120mm fans. I'm sticking to my modded NR200 that allows me to use a radiator on the top and on the bottom with 2x120m fans on each radiator.

No more bracket across the left side of the case for fans and the vertical config ruins this case for me. I have 2 but I guess I need to buy a few more before they go off the market just to keep for future builds.

Looks to be a stripped down NR200p MAX in a lot of ways. The main reason I like the nr200 and nr200p is because I could go without using a finicky riser cable. Plus I deshroude my GPU and refuse to go back.
reply

They really got rid of all the shit that made this case cool. Nr200 stood out for being compact but still versatile. Forced vertical video card means no air cooled cpu, and no glass panel. Super disappointing.
reply

should have made it compatible for MATX and not force vertical GPU orientation. While AIO looks clean, I don't want to have to worry about AIO reliability issues and rather have a tower cooler instead.
reply

this one is more like nr200p max. I felt like CM just removed psu and aio from the nr200p max and renamed it to nr200p v2.
Anyways, its a nice thing to have a refresh. I like the v2 over the v1.

I love the backside cable mounts. Hopefully, there's some standardization or more of the all 3 accomodation methodology that Cooler Master has chosen. Great cases, great revisions and great innovation.
reply

I don't like AIO because the pump might be noisy and it might be out of order. So we have to change the expensive AIO. You still have to change the AIO because the fluid doesn't last long.
