I somewhat disagree with Gordon here. My money is on AMD winning the Battery Life game over Intel, for all new laptop APUs - 55W+, 45W, 35W, 15W, and 9W. Performance wise, I see AMD beating out Intel in 9, 15, 35, 45W Multi-Core -unplugged- performance on battery power, as it did last year. These reasons are why Ryzen will be more popular for most average consumers.
Single-Core and 55W+ -plugged-into-wall- performance will both favor Intel strongly just like on desktop space. Biggest advantage is Intel-optimized productivity apps that Intel has its claws in with their -Platform Exclusively- deals, such as Adobe and few other specialized industrial software that are being paid untold sums of money by Intel to be more optimized.

I can tell you this much amds 3700x and 5800x are their hottest chips they have ever created. I just swapped over to the 12700kf using the same cooler and even overclocked my 12700kf idles 20c lower and peaks 10c lower. To me that-s insane people saying the thermal temps are worse on 12th gen are only saying that because they did not buy the Lga 1700 backplate kit for their cooler so the cold plates are not making proper contact. Oem manufacturers aren-t going to have that issue. I bet we see even thermals or better thermals with Intel laptops

Looking at the annotated die shot of Alder Lake, Intel could make a monster iGPU chip with 6 P-Cores, 0 E-Core and 256 EUs (rather than the current 32EUs) for the same die size as the 13900K. Obviously without stacked memory this much GPU performance would be a total waste but seeing the number of tiles Meteor Lake has it does make me wonder, could one of those tiles be 8GB of HBM3 making it the perfect 1080p gaming chip/system?

It's really good that for ryzen 6000 U series you are getting a great graphics performance, also knowing that thin and on the go laptops will pack the APU. I was about to purchase the Xiaomi Redmibook pro 15 ryzen 5800h but when I saw that I will be getting about 2x the performance on the graphics part, I decided to just wait for the 6000 series version of the laptop in the next months.

Well AMD fanboy, there will be no chance for your rembrand to competes with Alder Lake mobile chip, 6900HX basically is just 5900HX with clock bump, Alder Lake in CB23 destroyed 5900HX and leading by 3k points which is huge. AMD need 6GHz CPU with nuclear reactor to even beat Alder Lake mobile CPU at this point.

Intel sure did come back swinging hard. I appreciate them offering 14 cores on laptops and not holding back. AMD laptops probably won-t have more than 8 cores until they have a monolithic 16 core ccx with RDNA graphics possibly after releasing zen 4. Unless AMD figures out implementing MCM designs on laptops.

Intel will make even more sense when they release the ARC GPUs for laptops and they manage to come at similar perf as the competition, compared to what AMD can offer now with their Ryzen and Radeon 6000s under the AMD Advantage systems/moniker - the combined power and computing management of the whole system.

AMD has 30% higher multi threaded scores compared to prior gen and the prior gen beat Intel soundly. It is likely that AMD might have the advantage in multi threaded performance this time as well, along with battery life. Not to mention their RDNA2 GPU which is at least 2X better than Intel.

For thin & light laptops, it all depends on how RDNA2 is better than Iris and battery efficiency.
The peak CPU performance delta between Intel & AMD does not matter much.
Even their previous generation is already enough to cater to most user needs.

AMD fanboy when AMD beat Intel: -AMD is better-
Also AMD fanboy when Intel beat AMD: -zEn 4 aRe gOinG tO bE iNsanE! -
is that so hard for AMD fanboy to accept that Intel destroyed AMD in competition? LOL cope AMD fanboy!
