Asus brought by a wild gaming laptop that looks like a Microsoft Surface on steroids. The ROG GZ700 Mothership we saw was a prototype but it packs an 8th Gen Core i9-8950K and a Nvidia RTX 2080! He also shows off the updated Zephyrus with RTX graphics and a larger screen. Read the full hands-on at PCWorld. com: Shot on a Canon C100 Mark 2

It' s a beautiful product, but it makes angry that it will cost probably over 10k dollars, and they didn't even include an ACTUAL desktop CPU or GPU (mxm.
I can buy for a little less than 3000 $ a Clevo desktop replacement laptop, and i can put a 9700k and 2080 mxm in it (when they come out. BOTH overclockable.
Heck i can even do 2080 sli (nvlink, not with this particular Clevo model OriginPc sells.
For example, the OriginPc EON17-x (a clevo barebone, that with said configuration (and upgradeable cpu and gpu) will easily give almost double performance than this monstruosity of a prototype.
It' s cool and all, but the price is just too much to ask for laptop components.
Edit:
Oh look, the Alienware Area 51m happened.

Wouldn't it be so amazing if you could have a unit like this, but the keyboard is attached to the screen so that way when I'm using my computer on my lap, I can actually let it sit on my lap without falling off while able to adjust the screen angle so I can view it at any height while having this computer on my lap?
Someone should invent something like that to expand the practicality of this computer!

Does the keyboard charge while it's connected to the laptop? Or will you need to keep replacing the batteries in it if you use it wirelessly

GZ700 seems to be a very good structured piece of hardware but ruined via ROG branding. ASUS, could you please get rid of ROG? Please?
