Jokes aside, it really makes sense that a person like that would be interested enough to go and create a ROM focused on privacy. If you want something for privacy, find a paranoid person who just _can't_ live comfortably like all the rest of us without a ROM that is sufficiently private. If you want a piece of software that satisfies your most sophisticated tastes and unique needs, go find the most demanding and pedantic person there is, he would probably already be developing the software right now because nothing else satisfies him amongst the existing alternatives.
Extreme communities around software that is for those with extreme needs aren't necessarily bad or dangerous. It's just, when you look for a leader for such an extreme community, you have to keep in mind two things:
1. If the leader doesn't have enough issues to be truly interested in this extreme piece of software he's developing, he probably won't do the best job
2. Since the best leader you can find for the job is someone who's likely unstable, the best route for this would be to look both for the leader and for someone who can keep him in check (gently.
Usually you don't get socially nice and warm people who are also of extreme views on software and are able to develop said software. You only get one of the two, and if you really want the extreme software, your only option is to LEARN HOW TO HANDLE THE UNSTABLE SPECIALISTS. That's just how it is. So, yeah, look for two people from the very start. And maybe set a separate budget for paying for the leader's therapy, there's nothing wrong with that and it actually helps even _before_ the crisis unfolds.

Dude, honestly. I mean I rarely feel compelled to comment but what you-re doing in this video is exactly what makes this drama even bigger. You needed an hour long video going through chat history that you weren-t involved in? This entire video is essentially gossip. I had no idea about any of this and I didn-t need to (unfortunately I found this video when searching for Graphene, which is really bad of you to overshadow the entire project with just some gossip. You keep saying -why do they care- in the first segment of the video but the same question applies to you. You-re being exactly as toxic as those spurts you showed from their communities. And telling someone to get help based on random incidents in chat (where you keep saying you don-t know this community, you-re not part of it, you haven-t followed it, you just decided to make an hour long video on it) is very odd to say the least, it-s actually a bullying tactic.
Really disappointed in this.

-has Daniel Micay ever-apologized-or-offered some kind of explanation-or anything? Has he ever responded to this? I really hate seeing this kind of behavior out of a developer. Because GrapheneOS looks exactly like what I want to switch to (been with Apple since iOS 5) but I absolutely refuse to give any kind of support, in any way, to a company/founder/CEO that either acts this way or would allow their company or anyone representing their company to act this way. We all have personal biases, thoughts, whatever-but when you-re a -public figure- (for lack of better terms, you-ve gotta keep the crazy shit in your head out of the spotlight. If he wants to be privately paranoid, or even subtly elude to it, cool. But acting in this manner must have consequences.
By the way, love what you guys are doing. Keep it up!

Bringing up (or even threatening) self harm the instant one is called out for their bad behavior and being held to account is classic Gaslighting 101! That alone tells me all I need to know about someone and their character. Then again, of course, it's never alone as a witness against them. They are self-righteous narcissists through and through. I know plenty of people like that, unfortunately, and they are all so very exhausting and unpleasant to be around and to work with. They're impossible to work with, in fact! Everyone else is always to blame for their constant failures to be decent human beings, of course. Nothing is ever their fault. How could it be? They're the picture of perfection and can do no wrong, didn't you know?

GrapheneOS, CalyxOS, and CopperheadOS are all honeypots. Why would you spend your time degoogling Android to create a custom ROM but then slap that degoogled ROM on hardware manufactured by Google. That's right, all three companies I listed only support Google Pixel devices. If you can't trust Google's software then you sure as hell can't trust their hardware, there's no way to verify the integrity of their hardware. If they were serious about security they would be supporting more devices like LineageOS or manufacturing their own hardware like Librem. The fact that they don't and only support Pixel devices screams honeypot.

28: 43 Holy crap, this thread is A-level paranoia and narcissism. I'm amazed anyone wants to work with this guy at all.
Jeez, TheJollyRoger, life is too damn short to put up with that garbage.
40: 26: Honestly, the guy's insanity is genius. He goes absolutely batshit, accusing people of everything under the sun, and whenever someone finally calls him out on it, they're supplying proof that he's the poor persecuted boy genius. Holy shit, just NO. I want nothing to do with that guy, or anything he touches.

Daniel has always been nothing but helpful, and yeah, he's extremely keen on stopping misinformation of any sort. If you spread ANY type of misinformation, he will remove your comment from the community. And if you come to harass, you do get banned pretty quickly. I highly respect that about him. Isn't it ironic to come to a hour long video about some dude whining about another person trying to defend themselves and their work? Get a life man.

I just asked a simple question in the matrix room and one of the admins went on a spiel carrying on like a child. I want to use Graphene but I know that if I have a problem there's a chance it won't be fixed and I'll be attacked and insulted instead. That makes Graphene only as stable as it's administrators, and no I am not making any remarks about depression, it wasn't strcat that commented, he was helpful.

Good on y'all for being honest with your reviews. I daily drive GrapheneOS, and I can see how the average user would have issues with it. I can live with no proprietary apps, no Google services, only offline maps, etc. But most people will want to use DoorDash, or Google Maps, or Twitter or w/e. I don't need it, but it's a valid concern for the average user.

Between Apple scanning my dick pics without my permission and uploading them to some cloud, and Android willingly handing all my information to advertisers and givingit over to authorities I'd happily use something like this. Thanks for introducing me to Graphene OS, I'm picking up a compatible phone shortly and am going to start using it.
