Hey, DT. Your Distro Reviews Suck!- (Plus Other Comments I Get) DistroTube In this lengthy rant video, I address a few questions that I've been receiving from viewers. I discuss my thoughts on why my distro reviews suck, Brave being the best browser, whether I am a Buddhist, AAA games and the Free Software Movement, why my videos are monetized, and why I started making videos in the first place

DT you got it right. First impressions make a big difference. It's just like going on a job interview. If you come in looking sloppy. The interviewer is not going to take you seriously. If you come in a suit and everything is in its place. You're going to be taking more seriously.
DT you are talking about the out of the box experience. Real people don't want to spend 15 hours setting up an operating system. People want to get on with their lives.
DT I see both sides of the arguments when it comes to a distro review. They can be helpful and harmful at the same time. If the reviewer used the product and didn't read the instruction manual. Of course the reviewer going to give a negative review. But if the reviewer read the instruction manual and did not have any preconceived notions. The reviewer will give a positive review. Distro reviews are a necessary evil that you have to put up with in order to gain the benefits.

Open sourcing games is easier now than ever because the code really doesn-t matter, it-s the assets surrounding the code that matter, models, textures, levels, audio assets, video cutscenes etc; An open source game will have no problems making money with GPLed software because all of the things that make the game enjoyable are still copyrighted and can-t be distributed.
Furthermore I argue that indie devs should free their code wherever possible because people will still need to buy their game to play it, however, the community can pick up the slack in terms of bug fixes and porting the games to other platforms. This frees up already constrained resources so that the indie dev can continue focusing on making their next game.

No, all religions are not the same. The Christian faith is centered around love. Around the love and mercy of our heavenly Father. And it leads by example, with the Crucifixion and Resurrection of the one and only begotten Son, and God himself. Around the martyrdom of His apostles, and so many followers.
Some people who claim, think or even have eventually become His followers, have committed heinous crimes. But that is due to the corrupted state of men, not the religion. Christs teachings are all about love and peace and forgiveness and there is no evil in it, not a drop. Merry Christmas to you all.

that argument, you need x amount of time to review something is bs. It's the same argument common in MMORPG reviews. if the early experience is bad, it's not that you haven't spent enough time in it, but the distros/games fault for having a poor experience, or it might just not be something suitable for you subjectively (humans recognize pretty fast whether they like something or not, it doesn't take 6 months), and it only gets better later, because either you make it better, or you get used to all the stuff that annoys you at first.

ID software has done that since the Quake. All of the -IdTech- engines have been open source for a looong while. And yeah Carmack (John) wanted to open-source Doom earlier, there was push-back from inside ID. And from Epic Games, Unreal is open source. CryEngine is open source. Hell, unreal even says licenses for UE are free up until you sell you first million dollars, so yeah. A LOT of game production tools are open source.

I had thought briefly once about trying to make videos for YT, but then i realized I had no idea what kind of content I would like to create, and like many of my other projects started and then forgotten about, it would die of neglect. I'll stick with being a content consumer and not a content creator. Keep up the good work DT.

Firefox had to gain support of new web technologies like custom scrollbars, backdrop-filter (blur on websites) but FF is a pain on ass for webdevs, bcs we have do compatibility with older Technics bcs Firefox doesn't support new ones, if it doesn't change, Firefox will use their marketshare

Yo DT, if you haven-t already, check out Joseph Cambell-s The Power of Myth (there-s a video series of interviews with him that-s streamable too- on Netflix I think). It would be right up your alley. Has to do with finding similar themes in myths from all different cultures.
