This video covers Intel's terrible responses and what we believe are misleading, slimy, and shady actions in relation to its 13th & 14th Gen defects. The video contains a full timeline of events for Intel's colossal failures while also recapping its latest #INTC Earnings call from August 1, 2024. These defects include impact of voltage, such as high VID, on CPU longevity and degradation, plus the prior oxidation concerns.

Hey I just wanted to add when I was on steam I noticed a public notice from Cepheus Protocol it's a 5.2 Unreal Engine game.
The notice goes like this. There seems to be a widespread issue with newer Intel CPU's and Unreal Engine games.
We've had several users noticing that they were able to fix the issue by manually adjusting some settings that by default motherboards do that are dangerous to the stability of the engine. As far as we can tell this is a screw-up on Intel's side which is why a lot of gamers are RMA/Returning their Gear for AMD CPU's. I personally had to follow a guide (Post #5) for Unreal Engine developers just to stabilizes our development SDK from crashing for myself.
Excerpt from various sources:
The issues have been reported by users with a variety of processors, including the Core i9-13900K, Core i9-14900K, Core i7-14700K, and Core i7-13700K. The severity of the crashes can also vary by game, with some titles simply exiting to the desktop while others can completely lock up the machine.
Some possible causes of the issues include:
Aggressive settings used by default by motherboard vendors
High default power and current limits
Default loadline calibration for voltages
Motherboard's default Auto power and current limits
Some possible solutions include:
Updating your BIOS to include an Intel Baseline Profile option, which reverts to Intel's factory default settings for basic functionality, lowers power limits, and improves stability
Manually downclocking or undervolting the Intel processors
Power/current limiting the CPU
Manually setting the power limit to 275300 watts and the amperage limit to 350A
Tweaking the Load Line Calibration (LLC) to increase voltages

Ya, YOu know what doesn't help. Going balls to the wall aggro, then getting pissed when they get ahead of your question with their response publicly so you don't have time to twist the knife. (which is the favorite internet play from the playbook, privately ask a question, then get a response and twist that response for maximum damage before they can make their own statements)
Honestly, the inconsistencies would have better been delivered if you quite honestly didn't come off as bitterman they responded to the public instead of you. Yes there were issues to be had, and for a place known for atleast some in depth analysis, it's weird how you're underplaying the MB manufactures failing to do things properly. (This is to admit it was some poor documentation as well, from intell about those chips. Outside the ones with the physical oxidation issue.)
THere is ALOT to go through, but little surprise this is comming off as a bitter ex, just attacking with everything lined up in a slanted way.
I'm willing to bet that the making of this video didn't recieve the needed level headed examination that it needed because... baby you've gone full rage click bait.

I feel like every public statement Intel does, currently goes through their legal department at least 3 times before being published, in order to avoid admitting anything that could form the foundation of a liability claim, to the point of them shaking the antitrust law slap tree pretty vigorously right now.
The line between acting in the best interest of shareholders and customers and blatant lying to avoid a massive product recall and prevent stonk from going down is blurring. A lot. Also why does [node] is on time and doing great always translate to our yields suck and the product will be late!
What we're seing here is the result of at least 10 years of mismanagement, paired with incompetence, rotten internal standards and a lack of consequences for the inability to execute, along with a QC and validation process that is questionable.
My personal highlights are Murthy and Kodouri. They've f'ed the company's technology stack for years to come. Heck, the former even managed to get Jim Keller to leave by being a jackass and engaging in internal politics and power struggles. Oh and put Krzanich on that list aswell.

I think sometimes people fail to understand it doesn’t pay for a company to be honest on defects. They get class actions suits straight away even if they have done the right thing in terms of recalls and PCAs. I’m not surprised they don’t want to share too much.
The key question for me is will their quality processes fix the escapes, Iim sure a lot of this is down to trying to get too much out of a platform not designed to operate at the levels they are trying but that doesn’t mean that in 2026/27 they can’t produce amazing chips.
Personally I’d like to see more competition in the CPU space not less. We don’t need another GPU Nvidia /AMD or Boeing / airbus or Windows office situation were they have very little reason to compete on value.
Intel lost this 3-5 year ryzen, but they again people used to say AMD could never catch up and compete

I don't understand the cynical take on Intel. Yes, their business was not conducted well. They avoided any 'risk' and have suffered for it. However, after the Chip Act. which quite literally states it is to develop American independence in the semiconductor industry. America, like all those big banks, will not allow Intel to implode. It was the whole point of the subsidy. It doesn't matter how good NVDIA is, it's headquarters in Taiwan, puts in a difficult geopolitical position. Clearly, the government is more comfortable with a U.S. based chip manufacturer. ARM is the only other company that I am guessing could have worked, but after Brexit, it no longer receives EU funding, leading to the US putting a lot of their eggs in the Intel basket. Maybe Qualcomm, but they are more behind then Intel is.
reply

I think intel has no future, not because this incident but because the moment it happened, I think we are close to the death of x86, probably the last opportunity for Intel start to switch towards arm and do everything to keep the trust of its trademark high while they could shift their strategy, instead this fiasco happens while they keep destroying trust and consistently making bad decisions, to recover they need to consistently do good calls but instead they mess things even more again and again

Yeah, I am on a second 13600KF and while it lasted longer than the first one, it is showing signs of degradation and instability. It never showed higher temp than 65-70C as I run it conservatively because of earlier failure. Started the same as the last one - it cannot run my DDR4 RAM even at 3200MT/s or it will throw out GPU issue and crash the game. My previous CPU ended up with only two cores working. RMA took 4 months. I will try to return it and hopefully replace it with 12700, even non K model.
reply

I mean there's a reason why they want to avoid being specific, because it will be used on classed action law suits and they know it's coming, so the best thing for them (money wise) is just screw customers by making the RMA as painful as possible so a lot of them just give up.
It's baffling how they can screw up this hard even tho they have like 70% of market share
Also, if they delay the process as much as possible they can push people out of warranty

Maybe less diversity hiring in these tech companies and more of a focus on their products and we'd actually have competent people pytting out competent products. Sure this is probably the biggest f--- up in recent times, but the asus story wasnt that long ago and there have been many, many others in recent years. I want to see tech get back to good products that people have a sense of pride in.

Wendel talking about half being affected and 1/4 being bad.....with this oxidation being a problem, for, for all we know, until new years eve of 2023. Seems Intel is looking to see how many will stop crashing with firmware updates, and pony up and replace the ones that are cooked, at least when or where people understand that's why, and care enough to get it done. Most won't get it done.

As someone who is still running a heavily overclocked 10980XE, and decided against upgrading several times now i really feel sad hearing all this. I also have a QX9770 and a 990XE in the basement as memories which are still running. It blows my mind that a company with such a heritage and past success can destroy itself in such a wide extend.

>competition actually releases a good and competing product and consistently does so for a number of years for the first time in decades

i was considering an arc battlemage for my next gpu, but i don't think i'm trusting intel enough to rely on their product being useable or even only functioning for close to a decade until my next upgrade afterwards.
with the power draw and price their cpus haven't been good value here for several years.
guess it'll be all amd again...

Thank you for informing the people about cooling below ambient temperatures not being possible (0:23)
I am trying to spread the word since years that refrigeration units and freezers don't really work and are just a scam. But people don't seem to believe me, and i hope this changes now with you now also spreading the word.

reply

Boeing and Intel are showing what happens when you put a company that needs to offer real products in the hands of scam man that want to bring value to stake holders rebuying stocks and increasing efficience. This age of money thristy has to have a end and give space to people with a society duty.

That shade thrown at the beginning with the artesian build stream was honestly uncalled for. For all the crappy things Intel has done they were not at fault for how AB was run by a cunt. This is not GN slips like that either, and it's sad to witness as it detracts from an otherwise excellent report.

I got into PC building back before Cyberpunk 2077 and even then I felt like Intel was one of those shitty computer companies that would completely stop working within a year or so like my Dell laptop or early 2000s desktops, even when their CPUs were recommended for Emulation I was like nope
reply

Well, this is really pissing me off. Just at the start of this year I've finally replaced my 10 year old rig with a brand new one. And guess what CPU I've put in here A 14600k, and if this thing goes kaputt on me I'm screwed, I'm quite poor and can't just simply replace hardware on a whim.
reply

Magine that, the corpo that presented an exotic-cooled 1000W CPU, implying it was performing that way at stock, ain't interested in giving default voltages!
Well, that's actually not even the real issue, the real issue is that at this point everyone is fine with CPUs pulling 1000W at stock.

reply

I’ve held a negative sentiment towards Intel ever since they did shady stuff with prebuilt monopolies 20 years ago instead of trying to compete with the superior AMD world’s first x64 processors and this just reinforces that. I’ll be glad to own my 4th Ryzen in a couple months.
