I wonder if Intel could engineer some way to leverage the unused Iris Xe IGPU EUs if you were to pair this with an Intel CPU. That would be a way to encourage buyers to stick to team blue for the full build, and give motivation to buy an 11xxx CPU over a 10xxx one. Seems like that's the sort of gimmick you can include when you manufacture both parts. Since Intel sells more CPUs with an IGPU, it would be one small advantage they could exploit more readily than AMD.

At the least, with this Nvidia will be force to release a 1030-40 that has nvenc or lower the price of a 3050 that is low power and don't need external power. Or OEM will start shipping their PCs with this. Knowing Intel will make a deal that they'll have a cut if they choose to use Intel GPU with Intel CPU. There will be no need for crappy GPUs like the 1030. That couldn't even have an older NVEnc. And I think the older xx30s did have.

This is genuinely astonishing for modern Intel. I'd expect them to bribe customers to buy new CPUs when better graphics is required, enabling upgrade of iGPU. However it appears they've allowed the iGPU to be upgraded as a seperate SKU (that's 2 years behind competition's arch). hehehe. Snark aside, this is about as bad as I expected, will be interesting to see if they bail as quickly as I expect.

I look forward to see how this will turn out for Intel. We do need more GPU providers in the industry and if Intel can at least make competitive alternatives to Nvidia and AMD then its an overall boon for hobbyists. The naming system they have leaves a lot to be desired however but beyond that this seems like a good start for them!

If nvidia actually cared they would scrap the 710 and 730 and just rename the 1030 nvidia standard display adaptor and add more ports, people get tricked by the fancy names. the gt 7 series is absolutely pointless as most AGPU solutions and intel cpu graphics like UHD530, hell even HD4000 will give you a miles better performance.

I'm confused. If this is is essentially the same as an iGPU from a regular processor and it's limited to only work on specific boards, which will be Intel boards for obvious reasons... Why make this dedicated version? What's the upside compared to just using it as an integrated GPU and leaving it at that?

if that thing cost less than the 1030 (there is only the gddr5 the other one is pointless) seeing as its literally the only card with some gaming performance avilable for under 150 pounds (190/200 usd) and it was avilable in large qty it would sell really well here in the UK right now

This takes me back to 486 with VGA cards and I love it. Cuz I know the future is nothing but cloud gaming/computing/storage where you'll have nothing but a phone or whatever and own nothing. The longer we can get crap to put into a giant box the better IMO.

I know you guys are just getting started with PSU testing and reviews, but I would love to see a review on the Maingear Ignition PSUs. Particularly the 1200 watt. It's the only one high wattage supply I can find at a decent price right now.

I wouldve liked to see an AMD CPU pairing (if it is possible).Sometimes AMD cpu compared to Intel cpu vice versa can show different stories, I think the charts couldve been quite different, compared to Intels (for better or worse).
