Log Cabin Building, Bushcraft, Survival Skills, Cooking, Canadian Wilderness, Off Grid Living, Homesteading Hi, I'm Shawn James. I am a passionate outdoorsman living the life of my dreams in a log cabin that I built by myself in the Canadian wilderness. Join me and my golden retriever, Cali and listen to the sounds of the forest in this relaxing wilderness setting. I prefer to keep my talking to a minimum and let the natural sounds of nature make you feel as though you are there with me. No time to articulate I’ll just put it down. You beat the mental institution or system as it’s generally described that’s what that is. You beat the psychological warfare. You beat the former prime minister of Canada do you know that. No sense being uncomfortable about that it’s the most important life you could ever live for yourself and your family. All those years gone by and the whole time you lived and worked like the turtle (not that you were slow) to come out on your own. Few ever see the big picture he certainly didn’t he remained dependent because he worked to have control. To live the way you both do is to reject redundant systems. A redundant system is one that always fights for control it creates dependence people don’t generally know that it’s very basic information. There’s a particular disorder behind it. Anyway you made yourself no part of that. That’s what a marriage is meant to do. It’s called family it doesn’t disintegrate it refuses to give in to everything that only pretends to live and work.

Hmmmm funny how your marriage is so important now, especially when you was trying to get my mom to come to Canada, does your wife know about the check you sent to my mom and tried to get her to cash it. You are such a joke, I am so glad I told my mom you was a scammer. Good thing I screenshot everything to show proof. And the check that you sent also. You cut your wife down in those messages you sent my mother, some man you are. Said your daughter was sick and everything. You are a scam artist. You need to reported to the authorities for all your crap. If your wife would like to talk I would definitely love to show her all the proof I have to show her how you was trying to get my mother to come life with you in Canada.

Congratulations Shawn and your wife! That is something to be extremely proud of, it is a huge accomplishment. I have great respect and admiration for you both, and anyone who has found someone to spend that many years with. I have always wanted that, but for some reason I haven't found the right person for me, and may never. I haven't completely given up yet, but being in my early 60's, who knows, it may be a later in life thing for me. I am not sad, I am ok by myself, but sometimes it would be nice to share life with someone, who truly gets you, enjoys your company, and do things with. Enjoy the gift of the right someone, and many more years together!

Congratulations on your anniversary and best wishes for the next three decades. Your happiness is a gift that shows in your videos and I expect is a great example for your daughters in their current/future relationships.
I was fortunate to be blessed with a lovely wife who I spent 38 years with until she passed 6 years ago. I miss her daily and remember fondly our road trips, camping and wonderful vacations focused on nature. Like you we had a family with dogs and invested 20 years of our free time with Brittany rescue.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY you two! ha ha we have something in common. My husband and I just celebrated our 29th Wedding Anniversary last week. Just think we both got married to our spouses in the same year and roughly the same month. mmmm interesting. PS: Cali just LOVES being in the water. Pawing at rocks and carrying them up. That's Cute! Aww I sure do miss the red maple leaves in the Fall. Here's to hoping you have another 29 years together!

You two are a couple after my wifes and my hearts. I come from parents that ended up being married 3 times in life, both are gone now, but are loved. My wife and I have been together for 53 years and will be celebrating or 50th wedding anniversary in April of 2026. We two are hermits and stay to ourselves and family with a son and daughter that are both married to good people. Love your videos and really love your projects. Wish I was younger.

Well, in all honestly Shawn the woman would be a fool not to celebrate your union. You are one of the most hardworking, knowledgeable, sympathetic human beings I have ever seen on the internet. Your capacity for building your dream home your way and the immense physical effort that entailed is awe-inspiring, not to mention your forays into the Canadian wilderness. Would that ALL men were like you. They were once. What happened

Congrats on 29 years! A successful loving partnership can come in many forms & we should celebrate those bonds in all their variety: ) Its not always about marriage or family necessarily (Im happily married with kids btw) but about the loving bonds we create with the people that we care deeply about. Bottom line; love often, be there for each other, and the world will reflect that love back to you.

What happened Shawn did an army of thirsty women desperate for a real man slide into your DM's Beat them off with a 10 foot log, lol. jk My Father always put my Mom First taking her out once a week and meeting her at the coast once a month. Love is not what you say it is what you do and you show your love in every film for Family regardless of which way the rest of the World turns. ty

Congratulations Shawn, it takes work to learn how to live with you better half. It involves give and take, learning what the other person likes and dislikes. When you learn what buttons might set her off, you learn to never use those, and that’s when you learn how to show your respect for her.
You and your wife have done well, keep up the good work and enjoy yourselves!

Brings me joy when I see people happy. I strived for a great family life wth a happy wife, but I ended up being cheated on. But I still believe a happy marriage is attainable, if you find the right person and build a relationship on solid foundations rooted in friendship, trust and mutual respect. Wholeheartedly wish you both all the best for another 29 years.

Brother. Not trolling you. I love your content. But if you were in America, you’d see that your own govt is so flawed, you can’t even look at the future as being a place you’d want to raise children. My personal opinion, I feel if you have children today you should be jailed for child abuse. We simply don’t have the means here anymore.

Well said Shawn! What a great life you have! Im so happy for your whole family, you all deserve a great life. It’s all about appreciating what you got. Love is on the top of the list. Living the way you do would be most men’s and women’s dream life. Seeing what you can accomplish on your own. My self reliance is a perfect name.

You have a successful marriage because it is your priority. It also helps that you give each other space while still planning activities together. Thank you for sharing this. I hope others will listen. I feel both of you are lucky to have found each other. I prioritized my relationships, but my partners did not. I am 74 and alone.

Happy marriages - partnerships - are the foundation of our society. They are the cohesion we need to build strong communities and also grounded and happy children. It has become unfashionable to talk of such things - and look where we are now. Contentment is seriously underrated.
Congratulations to you both

I agree! Also, my greatest accomplishment. Anytime during our 53 years we could have gotten off track and ruined everything. The great joy of my 70's is having my best friend and tender lover with me everyday. Until death do us part was easy to say 53 years ago, but is now becoming a dreaded eventuality.

God, Family, Guns, and self-reliance. We need More Canadians who have a great God moral compass instilled in them. Who you are shows so much, shows so much in all your ways. Bring back Canada, so that everyone can have 39-49 years together, through thick and thin.
Thank you, Shawn and family.

Opinions are cheap. They come free. Who cares about what people say. You know right from wrong. You and your wife are all that matter to each other. Your mate from the beginning. Kids grow up leave home get married. But look at the one standing beside you. Your mate. That’s all that matters.

I watch every episode with great anticipation. Your skills are impressive. More impressive is your tribute to your wife. So rare these days to see a real man express such feelings. You are both a shining example of what is good in this world. Thank you for your inspiring words.
