SHAWN & OUR CALI! Watched it over again ! It would be a great wood shed for you! Wish I was your age again with the energy that I had at that time ! Body has taken a toll on me so I live through what I used to do with you doing the harder labor! I do what I can to make it easier for you & your family ! You maybe doing the work Shawn but my mind is right their with yours as you reach for things I can do little things for myself that is it now ! I got 20 years of hard labor on this body of mine with working a full time job as it was! I smell the smoke there & ALL that there is to be seen around you feel the wood under my hands & fingers ! Still wish I had my Norwood saw mill you got me going on the Alaskan Saw Mill big time !

While my property didn't have that many roots to contend with, I found a sharpened, Gas Powered Ice Auger made some great post holes. You still needed a 'Clam Shell' digger to clean out the hole, but the soil was nice and loose by that point. I didn't know about Shou Sugi Ban at that point, I just melted a bucket of pitch on the BBQ and dipped the post ends in it. Fence is still up and solid almost twenty years later. Of course, 4x4 posts are not quite 'Logs', but I don't live in a forest. Cali Tax!

SHAWN & OUR CALI! This woodshed is big enough for you to live in ! Enclose all Sides & put a Bear door on 1 of the big openings ! Great for wood shed also ! But it is big enough for sleeping in also! The other part for enclosing with a window also for venting ! Or without that window the Bear door only half door like on the shed there when you first build it! Small fire burner would be great for heat in there also!

Your storage shed looks like a little bit small. It's looks like can keep the usage of a year. You're getting older and older, will you consider to collect firewood more than the usage of a year Maybe you can build the extension sheds later for more storage. In those remote areas, we should have preparation more than a season for further protection. You're work is amazing and excellent. It shows me how people fulfill their dream and come true. Well done. Good job.

Not to sound like a Monday morning quarterback. but when I built my woodshed I didn't realize how annoying it is that the roof was about my height so when you load it with wood I was constantly bending down to get to the back. Fortunately I was able to dig out the bottom now I don't have that issue. I also hand split and it's real nice to stand upright after splitting and picking up pieces. Not sure if you can raise yours to make it easier on yourself

U have proved once again that anything is doable if u got the right tools. I concluded u are doing quite well to purchase these heavy equipment. What u do is nearly impossible for the average man that cant afford your equipment and hand-tools. Then I forgot i used to own your own construction company, do u probably had a lot of those tools already. Good 4 u!

Been watch your videos since the begining of both lands and cabins. I know your family spends time out there with you, and I was just wondering why your wife has not made the move to this location
The cabin is finished and livable, though she would enjoy being there now, i am thinking it was built for a permenate residence, curious,

stack on pallets laid on bricks or rocks, put used roofing on top. gawd, if i had a band saw mill i'd do something better than this with the lumber. my shade awning is free used telephone poles and junk tin. it's just firewood. and why in the world split with a mall i'd be milling those logs and using the junk for firewood.

Why the handsaw to trim off long boards You have an electric chainsaw.
Do you hand sharpen the handsaws I watch what you are doing and it reminds me of me. . Just keep moving along and a steady pace. I mill my own logs, build my own out buildings, and dig my own dirt. I do use more power tools though.

Beet juice is what farmers are putting in their rear tires on tractors for extra gripping and weight for picking up heavy loads when using front-end loaders. How do I know this This is what we used to use in our tractors it doesn't rot the rims out like calcium!

Most Amish pole barn builders dig the pole hole and dump two bags of concrete in the bottom then put the pole back into the hole and backfill with dirt. Putting concrete on the sides of the pole seems a waste and possible will heave in the winter.

I thoroughly enjoy your videos, I wish I could do this I definitely have the skills but my back is shot and my neck and have suffered with chronic pain. You remind me of myself. So when I watch your videos I live through your work.
Thank you!

This is pretty good.
Cali really knows her stuff.
She lays there and stays put so you have to work around her. Then at just the right time she sees you are cutting a board above her. Up she gets and moves. Pretty smart dog.

Before you start splitting the wood to fill this new wood shed just try attaching a tire to the top of your splitting log. Sometimes the simplest ideas are actually the best. Don't scoff at the idea, give a try and prove me wrong.

This man devoloped his mental strength through sheer wanting to live.
I have seen this type before.
Keep busy use your mind and muscles and live strong.
A cliff he faced and built a bridge to the other side.

I have been watching a tuber out of Finland split firewood. Rather than cut log into rounds then split it he cuts slabs off the tree till it gets to small then chunks it up.
Seems to be a lot of air traffic

When I built my woodshed I made it big enough to hold 8 cord and room to chop the wood inside. Tall enough to swing an axe while under cover. I see a lot of these sheds built but never big enough.

Looks like you are reliant on modern technology like most of the rest of the world
Tractor, sawmill, ATV, snow mobile, chainsaw, etc etc
Long way from when you started
Still enjoy your show
