Building a Timber Frame Wood Foundation for a Log Cabin in a Severe Thunderstorm OFF GRID

I build timber pillars for my log cabin in the worst thunderstorm I have ever witnessed in the forest. asciiavatar: Amazing how much has shifted weather wise recently. Seemed only a few weeks ago there was concern with lack of rain and how dry and hot everything was. Now seems like you've been getting lots of rain and moisture and everything is so green.
BTW Shawn, maybe you answered this in another video, are the walls of the cabin going to be uncut logs like the last cabin? Or squared logs like the workshop?

It is truly amazing how much has already been accomplished by a single person in such a short time on the cabin build and the other structures on the new site. The amount of work ahead seems daunting but obviously if you are truly motivated there is no task too large. Thanks for taking the time to document and share. I am very excited to be able to watch your dream become a reality.

Sung to the melody of Barry Manilow ' s Coco Bana. His name is Shawn James; He's an outdoorsman; He will build himself a hut and never get into a rut; He loves his dog; her name is Cali; She will dive into the lake and Shawn will soon then bake a cake; Using Bear grease; That stuff is awesome; Used for so much different stuff; Surely Shawn can't get enough;

Maybe a dumb question but I'll take a chance. The shovel that you use seems to have a longer handle than standard. There have been many times when I wished my handle or a little bit longer. It maybe the camera lens that's doing it. And I also don't know how tall you are so it's hard to tell for sure.

Shawn Here s A suggestion, You need get a hair shredding brush for Cali, i grew up in family home with a dog as pet as a kid, and we always had a hair shredding brush so in summer you could shred some hair off so she can feel a lot cooler in the summer and prevent another heat stroke in future.

It dawned on my that no matter what the weather is- cold or hot or raining- you pretty much have to live with WET DOG SMELL all the time. ---Ps it is good to see you working on the cabin, there isn't much time between now and winter.

Opposite situations ours, it hasn't rained here for almost two months and there every day.
As you can see, my cabin is made of stone and yours is made of wood. Good work even if working in the rain is not pleasant.

Shawn, the sound of nature is perfect but if you want to augment it sometime videos like this one would be great with a royalty free copy of Beethoven's 6th Symphony, The Pastoral.

The last couple minutes brought me a lot of peace and serenity, thank you for that.
The build is coming right along. I think you ll make it before winters chill starts to set in.

It is always a pleasure watching your hard work and progress on the cabin. I look forward to seeing you sitting by the fire with the snow falling this winter. Keep up the great work!
