You're back! I missed you! You need to get yourself a ratchet screwdriver. Makes putting screws in a whole lot easier.
That table top looks as heavy as the butcher block table I bought in 1982 and have as my art work space. It's amazing your can lift it. Mine needed two people to do that.
Well, at least when you and Cali sat on it, it didn't fall down. Now if I had made it, it would've fallen down before I even got the top on it. :)
Will those windows open in the summer to let a breeze in? I realize your summer temperatures are probably equivalent to the temps we're having now here in NE TN (ranging from high 40s F (5sC) to low 70s F (20s C.

I have a question for you Mr. Shawn James. It might be obvious after you answer it but I'm going to ask anyway. The hand saw you use to make cross cuts, the thin metal one with small teeth that everyone thinks of when they think of a hand saw, how do you sharpen it when the teeth get dull? I know on larger toothed saws you use a file to sharpen them but I've not seen a file small enough to sharpen those small teeth on that type saw. Do you just get another one when that one gets dull or does the design keep it sharp? I've always wondered this. Stay well. -Wil

In your description paragraph you mention getting started moving logs. I saw something that resembles (smaller in size) a log moving devise used to move logs by horse power in the 1800's It looked like something you could use because it pivots the lead end of the log up allowing it to be dragged far easier.
It is called a log skidder. Northern tool and equipment offers one at something around 250 that can be towed behind a 4 wheeler. I also saw a photo of one that is pulled by hand.
Just an observation. ;-)

yup I do think you are building this cabin the right way. you started with the workshop and bench built to make a good cabin and to go with a good cabin. now all you need is a pole lathe and the spindle vice and you have all the tools you need.
.
this cabin build should be great. seeing what you learned from the last one and how you use that with this one. so far impressed; )

Judging by the crunchiness underfoot, you must have had some rain. It is great to see you back at the workshop building a much needed work bench.
Thanks for sharing the wilds of Ontario with us. I have barely been out during the third lockdown over here in the UK, so it has been great to travel albeit virtually. Hope you and your family are managing to stay safe and well.

There may be a better way to enjoy drinking one's Friday morning coffee, but I doubt it and I certainly haven't found it. This is like fractal art, just when you ask What can this guy do to fill 40 minute video? , he finds something awesome from in between two other things. Fantastic!
