Your Grandmother's pink flowers- at first I thought it was a type of Sedum, which would attract many butterflies, so I could see why it would be called a butterfly plant.
But after closer inspection, I'm looking at the leaf structure, and it sure does remind me of carnations! And while the colors of the photo might be washed out a bit, that leaf and stem color certainly would fit in the Dianthus family.
Is it possible that the plant was a special variety of carnation? I feel like if anyone would have a special variety of carnation, it would be YOUR grandmother!
At any rate, I love the idea of coloring up her garden with blooms! I'm sure she wouldn't care if you had the exact same flowers that she had, afterall, gardening this way is more about what's in your heart, not so much as what's in the soil.
The Guara is a FANTASTIC addition! Great buy too!

What a special and very precious relationship you had with your Grandma Danielle. She must have been a wonderful and loving soul. I think she would love more flowers in her special garden - given from what you've shared with us her great love of gardening and flower arranging. I am creating a special part of my garden for my two little granddaughters Charlotte and Madeline who unfortunately live in Sydney Australia. They were coming to visit this month but New Zealand had to close the border again due to the pandemic. I just loved seeing the Gaura plants as I have just sown Gaura - 'the bride' seeds. What a fantastic bargain you had!

I think changing the look of your grandmother's garden is an excellent idea. You are such an innovative gardener and it makes sense to keep improving and updating what you do to keep it fresh and relevant. Just like your grandmother, you are contributing in your own important way to your generation of gardeners. I hope adding the flowers to that part of your yard brings you a lot of joy.

I love that you made a memory garden for your Grandmother, I vote to add flowers and love those books. I inherited my moms place yrs ago and I should really do that too, she was an avid gardener. I have photos of her gardens and plenty of room to dedicate an area just to the flowers she grew, which are some that I happen to love as well.

To me that pink flowers are more like Jupiter's beard or sweet rocket. Both of them are pretty aggressive but provide tons of flowers for pollinators. Sweet rocket are formally being invasive plants in most new England area, such you cannot spot them in the garden center. another possibility could be maltese cross.

Great idea. Whatever makes you feel like you-re honoring your grandma is what you should do. She probably changed and added stuff all the time too. At first glance I thought her butterfly weed looked like stonecrop but I think you showed a different picture on IG. Anyways that was my first thought. Take care!

I love that you have a garden for your grandma. The foliage garden has been calm and healing, it-s served you well. The added flowers will honor her with joy. May all your memories of her be joyful. I have a garden in our daughters memory which brings me joy. For me, it-s also a way I can still give her gifts.

What a great tour of the nursery. It inspires me to go and visit mine although mine isn-t anything like yours. I have planted gaura in my garden 7a in the past, but I haven-t been successful for unknown reasons. They remind me of butterflies. I can-t wait to see the transformation of your yard.

Very happy you are continuing your healing process with FLOWERS! They will never let you down! I think the addition of pops of color everywhere in your grandmas garden would be fabulous! Especially being that her garden was that way too.
It will be exciting for us to see the transformation.

There are pink asclepius varieties, but they have longer leaves than shown in the photo? They are perennial and native up and down the east coast, I grew them as part of a medicinal garden project in zone 5 CT. Mine were a gifted -wild- cultivar, 18-30 inches tall and low maintance. Similar?

Thank you. My Grandmother influenced me in my garden too. She had an apple tree with a Trumpet vine growing up it. So I did the same thing on my apple tree. People drive by and can't figure out what kind of tree I have with orange blooms hanging out of it.

I love the addition of the gaura to your grandmother's garden. I have some in a pot and I think I will plant close to the front of my garden. Thanks for your inspiration! Relaxing music is appreciated S you shared your visit to the plant nursery! :-)

I spent yesterday removing a bunch of things from my garden that I just didn-t like. I spent many years filling it in on a budget but now I want to make it my own vision. I trimmed some shrubs I hated and I love the area. Wish I had mulch though.

I love the addition of the gaura to your Grandma's garden! There is a lightness to this plant that looks airy in a drift like you planted them. I would think adding color to this garden is a lovely tribute to your Grandma! Keep it going!

I really like the idea of adding blooms to your Grandmother-s garden. They will make that corner more interesting because what can compete with the beautiful blooms in a garden? That-s why we have gardens, right? -

Could those flowers possibly have been Centranthus? I-ve always wanted to grow some. Started from seed once and planted it where I thought it would be happy, but it didn-t return after a winter.

Your grandma's flowers remind me of baby joe pye weed. Also, I have a butterfly weed plant that blooms white but the store also had a pink variety of it too. It stays smaller about 3 to 4 feet I believe.
