I Ate the Best Dominican Food: SUBSCRIBE for more: Today we’re in Cabarete, Dominican Republic in the heart of the Caribbean and we’re going to a special restaurant to eat seafood and especially some giant Caribbean lobsters! Check out Moises: Huge thank you for Moises for bringing me here. Wilson La Boca River Restaurant is a very cool spot along the north coast of the Dominican Republic, and they have an eco center as well as a seafood restaurant. You can actually go straight to the lagoon, take a boat across and go straight to the restaurant, but we chose to go the scenic route, by touring the backwaters before arriving at the restaurant. At the restaurant, you’re greeted by nature, peace and quiet, and plenty of the fresh catch of the day. Everything is cooked in the back over open fire, and there’s no electricity, which is a big bonus. We had a selection of local fish, lobsters, and of course the giant Caribbean lobsters to top it off! Wilson La Boca River Restaurant: The total for everything we ate and the entire experience was 10, 500 DOP ($165. 68) Follow for more food: T-shirts: Camera gear I use: (some of these are affiliate links and I will make a small commission from any sales)

Hey Mark another Great Video ofcourseBut I don’t agree at all with that establishment frying chicke and fish together at the same time, it’s already super risky frying thesame oil. I’ve been allergic to crustacean shellfish my whole life, and I will still get that allergic reaction even if I don’t ingest the actual flesh or meat. My sister is allergic to almost all fin fish(except salmon, which is sooooo wierd) and it’s the same thing for her. It’s just too risky. Just a little food for thought.

I want to apologize for the experience you had with this tour guide. seems he did not provide the cultural or culinary insights that should have been an essential part of your tour. Instead, it sounds like he gave only the bare minimum while focusing more on himself, which is not the level of service we want to deliver. Your experience should have been both informative and enjoyable, and I regret that it fell short of expectations. So much more would have been said.

Really parrot fish I hope that you know is actually illegal to purchase, sell or consume parrot fish in DR. I feel so sorry for my country incredible people that tag them self like ecological and cook this fish, i feel so bad foe you probably you don’t even have an idea that parrot fishes & turtles are protected animals, as well the flamingo

The food looks delicious, but what I disliked is when he’s eating over the food, specifically the plate of rice. Which he’s sharing. He should have gave him the rice 1st and then start eating. I hate to see ppl eating over food. That they are sharing. It’s disgusting

The guy is not a chef; he's probably a former fisherman or a bus mechanic. The place just looks disgusting. And how can a lobster soaked in hot butter be any good (forget healthy) Mark, you're acting nice and open-minded, but deep inside you know well this is terrible food.

Overall like this, but the scene with the flamingo was off putting and disturbing.
That bird did not want to be there, and it was cruel to force it to assent.
Mark, you should renounce this part of the video and be careful to avoid similar wildlife encounters.

as a Dominican. PLEASE DO NOT CONSUME / EAT PARROT FISH or condone this activity!
They are responsible for the creation of the sand of our beautiful beaches!
There are so many other different species you can eat.
Thank you

As a domican, I was born and raised in Sosua. Cabarete belongs to Sosua and I used to go to those nice places to eat seafood and fried fish with my family. I had the best childhood and im glad you get to experience the same.

Sorry, Mark Wiens, this is not my cup of tea, and at $165 for lobster, Dominican food can stay where it is. No visiting from me, and I'm sure they'll not miss me. Thanks for showing me why. As always You the Bomb!

Thanks for visiting my neighbors, I'm from Puerto Rico but live in NY now. When I go see my family I at least take 2-3 days to visit DR. Such amazing people and great food. Thank you Mark, young Micah and Hi Ying!

reply

Hey Mark. I don't want this to be an issue for you, but the Fish they might have served you is illegal to fish in the DR. That was a parrot fish, which is illegal to catch, fish, or commercialize until 2027.

I thought your visit in my country was over. I see there is more to show to the world

Always amazes me the similarities in cuisine the fried fish, seafood, rice and beans reminds of southern coastal food I grew up on in South East US. Even the the pickled veggies are familiar.
