Besides learning an amazingly delicious tamarind glaze for lamb chops, we ll show you what a great alternative the broiler in your oven is, when bad weather ruins your grilling plans. Rcmaniac25: If only I had a broiler that was some distance from the food. my oven has a broiler drawer and actually doesn't have any heating elements inside the oven. When I want to bake, it basically turns on the broiler under the oven and lets the heat rise. And I will have to do this. a previous tanerind paste-Food Wishes video had it's own distraction when I tried 5 grocery stores, including a Whole Foods, and not only did they not have tamarind paste, but the worker at the Whole Foods found out that they don't have any tamarind. After asking a coworker who used it before, they provided me Tamarind Chutney and said same thing and I sighed and had to go with it. What I'm getting at is I still have this tamarind chutney and needed something to use it with.

I like the Loin over the Ribs too, but I recently picked-up a Shrink-Wrapped bag of the Rib Style at Trader Joes and they were surprisingly very good. I had a Butcher at Mollie Stone's get me to try the Round Bone Chop because, as he said, it tasted very similar to the Loin but significantly cheaper. and it was delicious, and definitely very similar to the Loin.

Love you Chef John, you ve taught me and so many so so so so much. I do have to point out that shiratza is def not a sauce but might be a crap kind of Aussie wine. Si-Ra-cha is a hot sauce, the most famous of which comes from Southern California in a rooster branded bottle.

It's actually not hard to find.
It is for me!
It's in the Asian section of your grocery store!
No it's not! I have to travel an hour to find that stuff locally
Still love this recipe though, and excited to try it out!

Lamb has never been a tasty meat in my home. However those chops peeked my enthusiasm. Did not notice any use of the lime garnish. Love all of your advice and presentations. Gamy dishes and real outside game. Wow John. Amazing

Loved the Shari Lewis shout out! You have to be of a certain age to have caught that one. And by the way, this dish looks fantastic. I love all things tamarind. And I would make them with loin chops for an easier-to-eat appetizer.

Apparently Shari Lewis (wasn t she gorgeous? l) would often order broiled lamb chops when dining with other media folk just to see their reaction to it! Probably a very obscure reference if you don t recall Shari Lewis!

I think that was a manx tabby, not a genuine bobcat, which are considerably huskier than that kitty. Fun sighting though, and thank you so much for your dedication to spreading cooking to us plebs!

Unfortunately ithe majority of homes in the US do not have a proper range hood which vents to the outdoors. Consequently people don't want to smell up there house by cooking meat under a broiler

Here in the UK we called the broiler a grill. It had me confused for ages when americans said broiler, I thought they were talking about some kind of special device that boiled things.

Everything went well until you added the f n el seeds. Yuck! But if I remove the very offending f n el seeds, as well as the equally annoying hot sauce, I think I would really like this!

I try to use the broiler in my apartment, my smoke alarm would never shut off and I'd have to explain to everyone on my floor and the Fire Department why I was smoked out of my flat.

Would love to make this, but where I live in FL, lamb is more expensive than the best prime steaks the butcher has. Crazy expensive. Recipe looks wonderful though! Cool bobcat too!
reply

I don't know how essential the bobcat is for this method, but there is a cardinal who loves to perch on my windowsill and look inside. Will the lamb still turn out okay?

If you're big into healthy eating: lamb is almost always grass fed, as opposed to beef which is usually corn or grain fed. You are what you eat, and so is your food!
