Learn how to make Chocolate Energy Bars tara douglas: Nice recipe, nice idea. But 3 comments re: health concerns: 1. roasting nuts decreases their nutritional value by affecting their polyunsaturated fats and increasing rapidity of rancidity; 2. using a microwave to melt coconut oil? Please read the abundant research on the harmful effects of microwaves on food composition. 3. why place the mixture in plastic wrap, which contains known carcinogens? Parchment paper is a healthy, easy alternative. These 3 adjustments will produce a healthier product, which I am sure is your goal. Thanks

I don't comment often on youtube but I wanted to let you know that I really appreciate this video. I actually am vegan since about a year or so. I still watch your videos because I like your skills and your wit. The part about the hybrids in the parking lot made me giggle. Thanks for this recipe and including something vegan: ) Not all of us are preachy and we very much enjoy some good food just as everyone else.

Instead of using coconut to combine the ingredient, You can use tahini (sesame past. Tahini and dates go very well together. In middle east, tahini is not only used in savoury dishes, but is used in sweet dishes. One simple recipe, you can stuff the dates with any type of nuts (ground or whole nuts) spread some tahini one top, and you'll have an easy and healthy recipe.

hello chef John. I was wondering if you had any recipes for easy to swollow foods. I suffer from ALS and looking for a nice creamy savory recipe. I watch all of your videos and would love to see if you could come up with a meal that I didn't have to chew very much. Thank you for all the delicious meals I can cook for my family.

Well, deleted comments not withstanding, adding this up, and dividing, a serving as presented this bar is about 75 grams, 333 calories, 21 grams of fat, 35 grams of carbs (of which 22 grams are sugar, and 8 grams of protein. The two negatives being 22 grams of sugar per serving, and 55% of the energy coming from the fats.

Im gonna add a little more coconut oil for fat and energy like the ingredients but chef john as you know the almonds, cashew, and shredded coconut already has tons of fat lol. Serious question though. If i were to add some whey protein would it effect anything? maybe add a touch of water and look for the same consistency?

Your subtle use of shopper-stereotypes is both awesome and hilarious. Great video. All the different combos. Making these with pistachios, almonds and walnuts would be great. I'd drizzle in a few pieces of metled chocolate or add a bit of honey or cane sugar just to up the sweetness, for me.

For all you calorie counters such as my self, I made this and added honey roasted almonds, pecans and a few macadamia nuts, and put this into a 9x9 pan totaled 1, 515 calories for the whole pan. Now. Cut that into 6 large bars? That's just about 250 calories per bar. Not too shabby.

Coconut Oil is actually very bad for you. Every major health organization on the planet agrees on that. But the food industry has tricked people into thinking it is somehow healthier than other oils, when it may be one of the unhealthiest foods in existence.

I just made these with my mom, so good The only thing was, we have a smaller food processor so the recipe itself was too big for it. The recipe is a good amount, so next time we'll split the ingredients and do two small batches so it gets mixed easier.
