The Best Grilled Cheese in London Served With A Side of Raclette Over Potatoes Dining on a Dime

Cheese, glorious cheese. This is, without a doubt, the place that host Lucas Peterson was most excited to visit during this season of Dining on a Dime: London. Casein, as some of you may know, is a protein found in milk and is a major component of cheese -- which Kappacasein has in abundance. The cheesemaker Bill Oglethorpe is the man who drives this operation, which has a stall in Londons wonderful Borough Market and serves up ooey, gooey portions of raclette -- melted cheese over new potatoes -- and fantastic grilled cheese sandwiches

To give such high praise to Kappacasein is an actual surprise to me, their sourdough is too dry and does not go well with the cheese and onion mix. Their raclette is pretty average and I would say if you are unable to polish it off under 2 mins, the raclette stick as a clump making it difficult to seperate and consume with the potatoes. There are way better grilled cheese that I've tried before and better stuff to get at Borough Market than this. I love Lucas but he somewhat lost credibility to me after this review: /

As a Swiss guy, I can tell that this is some low quality Racelette cheese. Too oily (should never drip oil) and not creamy enough. A good Racelette cheese should not lose it's creamyness very fast. And chewy should never be used to describe Racelette. Nevertheless, Lucas is awesome as usual, so I still gave a thumbs up. I mean how can you not like him?

That is an amazing sandwich. I first had it in 2008 when they were under a tent on the London Bridge end of the market (great to know they have done well enough to move into one of the formal shops. I had no idea they were behind Oggleshield, which is one of my favorite cheeses and Im always searching for it in the US cheese shops, but never see it.

It's 1. 58am in London, UK and this video has made me hungry for a toasted cheese sandwich. Thanks. A. Lot - I have no cheese and no bread and this shop is shut: ( When I visit I will suggest they start doing macaroni cheese. that should be a massive thing of beauty

Grilled cheese looks delicious. On a different note, I can appreciate Lucas' excellent diction and enunciation however his pregnant pauses during his description between swallows is grating as hell. But I don't want him to change. I still love him and this series.

Thanks to Eater and Lucas for the heads up. I had the chance to try this place at Borough Market a couple of weeks ago. They definitely do a fantastic grilled cheese sandwich. My mouth is watering just watching this again.

ALL this guy has to do, Is find a butcher that has some great smoked ham, maybe rare roast beef, and ADD a ham & cheese, roast beef & cheese. I want to start a Hof Brau with this guy!

Lucas, it seems like you are deliberately reviewing the grilled cheese as slowly as you can so that you could finish the whole thing by yourself Really enjoyed this episode

I like how when lucas is abroad he's more humbled than when he's in the us. Maybe the producers warned him that there's no such thing as 1st amendment to protect him abroad.

My only problem with this show is that it almost NEVER states the prices for the dishes. PLEASE EATER. THE SHOW HAS ON A DIME FOR A REASON. -sincerely, a lucas fan boy.
