PSA: If you are bleaching your hair, be it a new bleaching, root touch, etc, or going to a salon to get it bleached, then Do NOT wash your hair the day of, or the day before! When you wash your hair, not only do you strip away your natural oils, but you also cause small micro-abraisions on your scalp when you scrub it with your fingers. So if you do this a day or less before your hair is bleached, it was cause the bleach to burn your scalp and create a bunch of scabs all over because of the micro tears. It'll also make it damn near impossible for you to allow the bleach to process the full amount due to the burning and pain you'd experience, thus causing your hair to look half done and not good.

Listen, I decided I was no longer going to color my hair anymore, because I’m letting my gray grow in.
However, when I did color my hair, and when I color my best friend’s hair Vaseline all around the hairline, and on the ears, because no thanks. Nobody wants the dye on their face, ears, and neck. Same goes for bleach, and I have bleached her hair before.
Nope. That’s just a no-go. We don’t do that without a strand test and a barrier cream.

I must have incredibly sensitive skin because if I let bleach get on my skin and didnt immediately wash it off my skin would start burning off. Once I had my hair dyed at the salon and there was a little on my skin and the colorist either wiped it off with a wet towel or they put some kind of cleaning agent on it and my skin came off with the stain.

I bleached my hair since I was 14 years old and I never did it myself. My hair was damaged but the skin irritated but ok. Good that my Polish mom told me to rinse the shit off as soon as something feels off with it. Poor people I hope they are all better now.

The first time I bleached my sisters hair I hated the feeling of the gloves so I just took them off cause I was like nah I can do this bare handed it’s wtv and I had so many chemical burns on my hands highkey learned my lesson tho

And this is why I never want to bleach my own hair at home. This shit is my worst nightmare, no amount of oh but it’s cheaper to do it yourself will ever convince me. Nope, never, not in a million years.

I always put Vaseline on my neck, hairline, and ears-and I never bleach my whole head at home! (Or at least I haven’t since high school)

As a shy 18-year-old I got a hair perm. They left it on for 2 1/2 hours. I am now 42 and I still have skin problems from the burn.

That's the reason I don't bleach my roots and scalp alone, I put boxdye because my hair is dark blonde and get light fast
