Pro hairdresser rates your curly to straight hair routine Tisha: As someone that has curly hair, the less heat, the better. Heat is so damaging. I wash the night before and brush out and straighten in the morning so that heat isn't applied twice. Also, if you straighten it damp, it's almost impossible to get all of the water out, especially the water that's on your scalp. So, throughout the day the natural weather and humidity will just make it go ugly and wavy again. I brush out and straighten starting at the bangs on one side of my head, and move to the back. making a circle around my head until I reach the bangs on the other side of my head. Then I look for spots that I may have missed (usually in the back or curls that just don't want to come out. After touch up, apply mouse to the roots to hold my part smooth, and mouse to the ends for hydration and to cut down on the frizz.

I absolutely love how informative your videos always are. You are so educational. I love learning from you.
That's what my hair stylist does to me. leaves the brushes in until the hair is cooled down. Sometimes they get stuck in my hair. We find that the smaller brushes get caught more than the bigger ones.
I agree with drying the hair well before using a hair straightener. I used to always get my hair straightened. Not getting the hair thoroughly dried first is not a pretty sight.

Have to totally disagree with you on Maryam's hair. Coming from a curly black girl. Nope there are just things we do totally different. Like there is no way we a tangling a brush all up in out hair when blow drying. And where on earth did you see frizz? Our hair is only going to get so straight. I come from a hair family. Grew up with a salon on the house. Yea way different. Coconut oil may not work for everyone, but it moistures the hell out of my hair. Still love you though.

I enjoy watching your videos Brad but you definitely need to educate yourself more on black or curly, coily hair the same techniques used on non black hair does not work the same. Brushes/products etc. you literally know nothing about black hair. Please stop calling curly hair dry, you have a bad habit of doing that. You should definitely spend a day with a natural hair stylist I think it would definitely help make you an even better stylist.

This is interesting! As a west coast stylist, I use J Beverly Hills and do the J Beverly Hills blow out which is similar to this technique. Is all the rage on the west coast still! Its funny cause some stylists feel Velcro rollers are tacky and then some feel brushes are. Its all about each stylist and how you obtain the look the client wants. Its so interesting the different in coastal trends!

I really don't like when he critiques curly hair. especially hair similar to my texture. It always seems like he's more obsessed with the look over the health by recommending things like more heat and globbing on product. Either way, I love many of his videos and products and his dedication to learning more about all types of hair. And I'll definitely continue to support.

Oh my, is that girls on 5th level of curls doesn't have an hairdresser from only black hair? Everything of that, they doing everything to have white type of hair. Poor babes and system victims.
I'm with you and understand that we can paid a bullions to get their own 5 hairs, not maxinum 3 (for that we have invest super duper money and a lot of time: .

I always blowdry my hair without a nozzle on the cold setting to a 70 % dry mark to create volume. After that I attach the nozzle to my blow dryer and turn up the heat setting to medium heat and kind of straightening my hair with a brush and the blowdryer that way. I love the technique and it's working well for me with a minimum of heat damage.

The third girl was using a method called stretching. The intention is to get the hair semi blown out with your using too much tension on individual strands and not have direct heat on natural and dry hair. We do our blow outs a little different to avoid damage. I don't think she was going for a bone straight look either.

I love that he understands curly hair. I was wincing watching her blow dry curly hair when it was already dry. I have curly hair and I would never blow dry it unless it was pretty wet still because you cant get a frizzy curl out with a blow drier if its already dry. It just makes it frizzier and takes our shine.

Im natural 4a 4b and Ive been doing the tension method for years now and my hair is ALWAYS straight after. I dont use the brush cuz my hair is so thick the brush pulls out ALOT of it. I think for the tension methode to work it all comes down to the products you use they have to seal moisture in the hair

Im glad he out here critiquing coconut oil because literally EVERY time I talk about my struggle with dryness everryyyyybodyyyy is like use coconut oil and COCONUT OIL IS NOT A MOISTURIZER! it literally just maintains moisture BUT the moisture literally HAS to be there FIRSTwhich is NOT my case

The discount sale was nit so much. Um on 2021 Holidays should be a BOGO. I realize this video is a yr old, but just saying. The website had no dry shampoo that I know of. I was not in the market for it anyhow. I will wait till later on. The bottle looks too small on here I don't like that.

brad would give me a 0 because i havent blowdried my curly hair in like 8 years lmao. I air dry, add product, brush it out, and then i use a round brush to follow my straightener. takes me 30 minutes and typically comes out silky smooth (unless i run out of product lmao
