Phantom Dust was just amazing for its time. I remember playing this back when i was a fkn kid in my grandparents house. I instantly fell in love with the game, it was unique and a worthy challenge interesting unique weird story and the maps even tho repetitive it did not matter they were fun to play with. About cost, those of you who want it free? that is not happening, if it does you will have to pay for everything else, they would be doing everyone a favor by making this a payed game. The idea of pre-made arsenals is a good idea. I can see people just jumping into the matchmaking the first day this game is out. I m very excited for the game and hope it all goes well and the day this does get released ill see you all in the battlefield. Ready your dust people!

This will be the truest test of waters to see if it's really worth their time to shell another $5+ million for a new project (and if so, it will definitely be a sequel and not just a re-skin. They are playing it safe, using the original assets and not modifying any story, and that is smart. Nintendo does this all the time with their Mario whatever games, so I'm pretty happy to see Microsoft give it a go with one of their truly original franchises that isn't Halo this time lol. Also, it definitely sounds like it will be a Universal Windows Platform application! I mention this because HoloLens could really take this type of game to a whole new level of addicting fun!

I absolutely love that they're bringing this game back this was my life for so many years lol sadly I never got to play it online but hopefully I will xD I also love that they're sticking with a lot from the original game that leaked footage I saw was NOT pleasant to look at AT ALL I really hope that they really do stick with most of the original mechanics for me I'd say stick with everything all they have to do is get multiplayer back on

WHY would anyone have to open up the old animation files to show the game at 1080p and at LEAST make the frame rate solid? Her answer for why it runs at 480i at the original frame rates is complete nonsense. Like that Miss America education answer. -Because the animations are so important. -

I would love a proper remaster. But I suppose this will have to do. At least we get achievements, and it benefits from modern features of Xbox Live, and I get to play it with friends again! At the very least, I hope they make new maps or skills for sale.

i think Microsoft is cheap they need they dont make the graphics better this is 2016 they should of at least made it 1080p hell the games they release on ps4 that were ps2 games are remastered in 1080p. seems like to me they are in it for the quick buck

Phantom Dust was an awesome game, but it was also the only game on the original Xbox that had every single feature the Xbox offered enabled. My friends and I always compared other games to it simply by saying its no Phantom Dust.

Microsoft sucks they were making a brand new phantom dust and scrapped the project just like they did Scalebound but it's what's expected by Microsoft now they are bringing out the shitty old 360 version that's pathetic!

Yes! We don't have to play through 6 hours to use your Arsenal to play online anymore? I remember the days when my sister saved over my files and i had to play 6 hours of story mode again. That happened more than once. lol

Oh man, I love how this gets announced like literally days after I already bought a copy of the original Xbox one. Still, this is super cool to see, and I'm excited to see it get proper online support again.

so there re releasing a g ame that came out years ago just for us to play all over again with really no changes to it after the reboot got cancelled this is not exciting at all
reply

Disappointing that it's not an HD remaster. They're keeping the original graphics? 480p in 2017 is certainly not that exciting to me, so that kinda sucks.
reply

Always wanted to check Phantom Dust out. It's a shame getting a reboot off the ground has been so rocky, but playing the original still sounds fun.
reply

this is not a remaster, reboot or remake this the original game with original assets. there only updating to modern xbox live and few other small things
reply

You guys do know they're just remastering to gauge our interest to continue the franchise, right? They're more than likely just testing the waters.
reply

Original resolution? either Shannon Loftis does not know what she is on about, or this is looking like a real half-arsed rerelease.
reply

YEEEEEEESSSSSSSSS
Thank you Nick for keeping up with Phantom Dust coverage, been following you since the original remake announcement.
