I saw it two weeks ago, it was beyond terrible. It was a snore fest the only interesting character was the Australian guy with the arm cannon and they did away with him 20 minutes into the show and they kept the lame White CIA Agent. The only reason anyone is giving it hype is it's 99% black cast and if you actually said an entire black cast sucked you would be labeled a racist. Get real this show has nothing on any of the other Marvel, Avenger movies. My own girlfriend fell went to sleep at 45-50 minute mark at the theater since it was so disappointing. I literally wanted to jump up and cuss and boo at the end. This movie was predictable, hardly funny and the fight scenes were far from lackluster. This movie displayed or portrayed black culture as one that immediately turns on its own leadership, look how fast everyone betrayed the Black Panther it was laughable. I much rather seeing The Black Panther in the previous Avenger movie as this was the most over hyped movie in film making history. I literally paid to rent Thor Ragnarok again last night just to see if I was mistaken about BP and no I'm not BP sucks!

1. This film is not better than The Dark Knight.
2. It attracted a new demographic (I'll give you one guess why. Also, if white people went to see it they were accused of depriving a black person of a seat at the cinema.
3. People are such plastic fans. Wakanda was mentioned in Age of Ultron, Black Panther appeared in Civil War, yet no one mentions Black Panther as their favourite hero. Also, I bet when Aquaman comes out no one is going to start going 'Atlantis Forever'.
4. People (especially critics) were immediately accused of being racist if they didn't give this film a positive review, and this was before the film even came out (hence Rotten Tomatoes rating. Are you seriously telling me that this film is better than Iron Man?
5. Blade and Spawn came out before, yep, and they had a black protagonist as the hero. Also don't forget that there ARE in fact black superheroes, such as Storm, Falcon, Luke Cage, War Machine, Nick Fury, Cyborg, Steel, Hancock.
I could go on.

I watched the movie a little while ago and was unimpressed. I did not get into it.
Personally, I am indifferent to the colour of actors as long as they play their roles well and it makes sense, unlike Gods of Egypt being 99% whitewashed. So if that is the reason this movie is great, it does not do much for me. I am going to give it another go one of these days. I love the MCU movies and want to love this one too.
I do have some issues with this being a movie of people of colour. It is not. It is a movie of people of 1 colour. There are hardly any Asians, Native Americans (I'm sorry if this term is incorrect, etc in the movie. So there is seems to focus on 1 thing, just like some whitewashed movies do the same with white people.
I hope it'll be better the 2nd time around.

I think the hype came from people making invalid comparisons on what the movie means. People projected their own opinions of what it means or what its about or why its so important and others latched on to them as if they were legitimate. Yet the majority of the people i see saying all this didn't even know Black Panther was a hero in the universe until it was announced the movie was going into production and even then others conflated the hero to the Black Panther Party. Doesn't mean its not a great movie and the money wasn't well earned. The movie was heavily politicized by the people who wanted to see it and i think thats where a lot of the money came from and the cast rode the wave.

Its because it was a damn good movie! I loved it, Black panther is one of my favorite marvel heroes and always has been, so I was overjoyed to see such an incredible movie made! I loved how the technology was portrayed and honestly Shuri was my favorite part of the movie. It was refreshing to see a wicked smart young woman that was taken so seriously, but still kept the fun and spunk of a teenager.
Just overall it was an awesome movie.

Its because it was a damn good movie! I loved it, Black panther is one of my favorite marvel heroes and always has been, so I was overjoyed to see such an incredible movie made! The MCU applied a very basic strategy, the reason for black panther enormous suceess at the box office is due to its release date ie February where there are hardly any big budget or highly promoted films released and since the majority of us didn't have any other option but to watch black panther [ because of the fact that there aren't any big named movies we can or want to watch] resulting in a blockbuster hit

To be completely honest the only reason is did so well is because it pleased the liberal media and black people. Lets just be honest here. It is not a better movie than the winter soldier or iron man. Not even close. It just makes liberals and social justice warriors happy because it promotes black people. That being said it is still a great movie. Im just being honest here.

The black panther is awesome but I am interested as to why reviewers focus on the critics RT score and not the audience. Both are high for black panther although there is still a 20% difference. I feel equal weight and mention should be given to the audience score. Take The Last Jedi for instance, the crappiest movie ever made. Obviously the audience score is the accurate one there.

I watched this movie when it came out. Yes it has all the right social messages etc etc but I really do not get how this film is considered even good let alone great. The plot is immature and childish, hits all cliches and has no depth whatsoever. I do not even know how it is anywhere near the 'dark knight'. Is it the cinematography which is declining or is it the audience?
