There's a huge point here someone else made in the comments; if Elune broke off to do her own thing. HOW DID SHE LEARN HOW TO BYPASS THE ARBITER AND SEND SOULS DIRECTLY TO ARDENWEALD! Wouldn't this require some sort of deep knowledge of the First One's Cycle? Herald Volaj knew about it. why wouldn't a 'goddess'? The Drust knew (Drust Stele. And if you're really paying attention, you'll notice domination runes all around the cosmology chart. What in the hell is Blizzard doing! Why is Elune sad all the time? Has she still not finished healing An'she? Is she sad about all the night warriors that have died fighting the Burning Legion across the universe? How did Elune reach out into the cosmos, and her sister kept nice and tight in her little night forest? I have so many questions.

I hate it. So much. It was disgusting enough seeing them turn Sylvanas from an independent strong female lead into a character that needs an undead bf to go moony eyes over plus being controlled/following YET ANOTHER dude, like she can't make her own mastermind plans and constantly needs to be under someone's thumb, god forbid a female lead the horde. Not even Elune is above making mistakes. But then again, the Shadowlands are her sister's home, not hers. And for as long as the universe was turning, there was never a need for her to worry about where the souls were going because the Winter Queen was always there ensuring their rebirth back into her realm. In this cycle of rebirth, the sisters were keeping one another alive without ever having to go to the other's home. But in doing so. the sisters forgot that they need to speak to one another, not assume.

Taking elunes words into consideration i dont think sylvanas's -punishment- from tyrande is completely fair. elune let it happen, the jailer whispered the idea. I cant say she holds all the blame, but at the end of the day, if someone puts a bomb in your hands and you plant it where your told, the murder/genicide is still yours: -

It seems that Elune chose the Dark Trolls as a race particularly because of their regenerative power and perhaps a substantial resistance to death, thus the Kal'dorei came to be. She led her to the well to understand the nature of arcane magic which has domain about time and order; granted them immortality.

Elune didn't know about the Maw, and had no control over whether Tyrande would continue using Elune's power or not, but could stop Tyrande from killing Sylvanas because she knew she was better used saving the souls lost to the Maw, which she didn't know was claiming undeserving souls. Nice plot hole Blizzard.

What if by -sent- she means she told them not to stay as wisps, to go to the shadowlands. She didnt just throw them in she directed them.
And by favored children, she considers all living things on Azeroth her children, so her less favored children were the horde and her favored were the night elves.

If you apply the Tauren myth and consider Elune as the Moon, then Winter Queen is likely her late born sister and they have a Sun Brother. I don't think we saw him be involved in anything yet. Same reading makes Earth Mother, Azeroth, their mother.

I wish there were translations for the Darnassian phrases that Tyrande was using as she was tapping more and more into Elune's power. Hell, Ash'al theradas has yet to be translated and it's been around since WC3 with Maiev.
