Physarum polycephalum is a single-celled, brainless organism that can make -decisions, - and solve mazes. Anne Pringle, who is a mycologist at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, explains everything you need to know about what these slime molds are and how they fit into our ecosystem

It is not the -higher mind- that guides the directed growth of the fungus. -
To understand this, it is necessary to imagine a bee colony or a swarm of ants. -
The -CONSCIOUSNESS- of a higher-level lives on a specially enlarged body (queen bee) of the uterus, which leads the whole family as one organism. -
The fungus has the same thing, only its consciousness directs more primitive living organisms, therefore it is at a lower level than that of the bee family. -
And there are energy egregors that live on human organisms-

5: 45 But isnt this what we are doing? Our brains learn how to create paths for how to do things, right? When we search space with our eyes, we are mapping all the possible solutions and then we decide to go act after these processes are done, unless we do things on automatic -- which is learned behavior.

I think it uses its arms to seek where it gets the most energy. Then as an energy saving mechanism it consumes it own arms, and repurposes that energy to seek the more nutrient rich zones.
I also think that it uses chemical sense as it-s main way of understanding what-s around it. I want to study this more.

This is a really good analogy for finding what to do for your life. It's not a straight line for everyone. Sometimes you need to try all avenues you can. Some paths don't lead anywhere but it's okay. Because you're still searching. And sooner or later you will find it. Yeah. Be like slime

Woman is totally wrong, everyone solves mazes exactly the way Physarum polycephalum does. We just don't map the whole maze with pencil, but with our eyes and then use the pencil to draw the line. Can't believe that person with university do not know basic knowledge like this.

2: 35 ish) LOL she basically says: if you go to the right place at the right time, you'll definitely find it there. To which I respond: yup, ditto everything else in the world/universe. go to the right place at the right time & there it will be! Like magic!

This thing is potentially intelligent somehow & likely shares a common ancestry with us just like all earth-s organisms & ya-ll still think aliens that don-t share a common ancestry with us will look vaguely recognizable as a humanoid or animal

The fact that I knew what this was (I go to a specialized STEM school and some kid did a project on it and I had to review it) it-s fun to actually know what someone-s talking about while watching videos.

You call this amazing? The slime grew, spread out and ran into the food. If you spilled a quart of water or mercury at the same starting point, it would also -Find- the food. Get over yourself.

Ma'am. Thank you for this information. Cells operate through survival. It'll be cool to learn that everything started as a blob and then progressed to multicellular as food sources increased.
