A knife should have well-concieved, purposefull, ergonomical shape matching it's function, followed by the execution with attention to the detail. In this video there's neither. Those are one of most botched, dumbest knife designs I've seen in my life, and the finished blades reflect light in so many different planes that they look like thrown under a train.
Also, kitchen knives are made with stainless steel for a reason, which is lack of rust or acidity taste on food (high-carbon steel) and are supposed to be cleaned easily (zester chief's knife, ROTFL.

She is not a knife maker, there are hundreds of people who actually forge their knife, let alone understand the principles of knife making.
It-s nothing about her gender ffs, it-s about actually showing people the intricacies of this art, not a hobbyist making display pieces for those who won-t ever use it.

Her knives aren-t bad for what she is making but I believe this is a pretty weak attempt at 6 levels of complicated knives. 2 wooden knives? No damascus or difficult steel components, nothing but the most basic forging techniques. Sorry Wired, I think you missed this one.

Still one more step. Brute de forge. No cutting, no addition, just that starting blank. Grind final bevels. Figuring out the intended knife length and thickness and then getting the blank is very high in skillset.

-Lets make a docu about levels of knife making.
-Cool Idea, but we don't know anyone who can make a knife
-Don't worry, I know someone who make wood knives and template -chefs- knives
-Aight, bring it on

As a chef and geek into japanese knives I clicked on this video fast but the second I saw Chelsea Miller I got dissapointed. Really? You couldn't get a real knife maker for the vid? What a shame.

Wired doesnt know how to fill their articles and video's. so they invite the Biggest scammers on the planet. who now also act like skilled blacksmiths. except. she is missing. ALL OF THE SKILLS.

A wooden knife a butter knife a knife which has a handle that narrows to basically the width of a few hairs and last but not least a blank. I haven't been this mislead in a long time

Seriously you guys just had tony hawk to teach 10 levels of skate boarding, Why did u not use Bob Kramer to show the 10 levels? He-s the Michael Jordan of knife making!
reply

Nice! I always wanted to see an awful -knife maker- who clearly doesn't wear appropriate PPE and buys blanks on the internet she just glues together and sharpens
