i first saw this movie coming down stairs as a 3 year old seeing the city scene on a black and white tv. i dreamt about the movie forever un till i watched it a bit older and it completely blew my mind, it sparked a life long fascination in sci fi. then when the tv got upgraded to colour that b&w tv went into my bedroom and one night as a 7 yr old i stayed up way past my bedtime and was lucky enough to see aliens. which sadly gave me nightmares un till i was 15, but my god were they thrilling nightmares. ive made peace with them since.

Even before he was talking about fashion, I was looking at Rachel's dress and thinking how cool it looked.
And no, I didn't just watch the movie, I've seen it several times over a 20 year span, but there's so much to look at in a Ridley Scott film, it took me years to finally make a note of that. It's not a surprise that Ridley paid so much attention to Kubrick's movies, they both seem to have the same approach to filmmaking: make every shot a beautiful picture filled with meaning.

When Blade Runner came out it wasn-t getting much acclaim. I remember my dad getting it as a VHS rental which we did every Saturday. It was considered just another Sci-Fi film at the time and there were so many. Most of these 80-s Sci-Fi films didn-t stand the test of time. I thought it was a great film but it took at least a decade before people started to appreciate what an amazing film this was. Now it-s talked about as one of the greatest Sci-Fi films of all time.

I imagine a Netflix serial. It is set at a distant star. A small community playing basketball. Painting. Making music. These people are not people. They are humanity cheating the speed of light. They are androids. Drones if you will. Sent by a method of propulsion that any human crew would be dead by now. They are voyager three. A facsimile of humanity sent to be our representatives. They receive a signal. They respond.

The fact that Blade Runner is still commonly talked about nearly 40 years after its release is a testament to its brilliance as a film. It surprised me that Ridley Scott considered this his favorite scene, because not knowing this, I've long considered this to be one of the top 5 movie scenes of all time. And again to its credit, I've also thought the -Tears in Rain- scene to be among my top 5 as well.

Remember when it came out. watched it about 40 times. was studying psychology and philosophy at the time. so the hidden themes were just resonating with me, totally blew me away, so many layers in it. loved all the actors, ironically Ford was the hardest to take, he sounded so wooden. did he know he was supposed to be a replicant too?

I've never liked Ridley Scott. He's so arrogant. He thinks he's the best director ever. And he's not. But Blade Runner is one of my top 3 favorite movies of all time. That movie is by far the best sci-fi movie ever. I wish it wasn't done by him. But at the same time, he's a major reason why the movie was great.

It is also selected as the 2nd best VFX in films of all time by the Visual Effects Society and 2nd most influential cinematography of all time by the American Society of Cinematographers.
VFX behind Star Wars (1977) and cinematography behind Lawrence of Arabia (1962)

I literally love Ridley Scott when he talks about films. He-s so in love with making them he-s confident of his ability but never arrogant and I feel just tells you very simply about the small levels of trickery that make up a full length motion picture.

After this scene the movie becomes incredibly dull. terrible characters. specially Deckard, a boring protagonist, he-s always bored, no emotional attachment to his quest. Tyrell is the only interesting character in this movie.
