I hope they don't destroy all the mystique of Bladerunner, like they did with ALIEN.
In the old days writers and directors were almost forced to rely on mystique and mystery. They had to rely on the audience's imagination to fill in the gaps. There were several reasons, the main one being budget and film effects/technology. But it was great! I loved how movies used to be written and directed. Now, movies destroy all mystery and mystique and explain EVERYTHING. I don't like it. As a warning to ALIEN fans, don't watch Convenant or Prometheus unless you want the 'Alien mystique' destroyed. It is a shame what they did to that franchise. They basically destroyed it.

And here we are in that future. Forty years later and LA has indeed collapsed politically, socially, morally, you name every imaginable way _but_ environmentally. Maybe another ten more years will do the trick so the democratic crime party can finally be right about anything. Anything in all the world. They plan on taking everything you have either way because that's what it's really about.

I love how Denis speaks with such passion. I agree, there are some things you experience and feel like you've never seen anything like it. For me, it happened while listening to Radiohead for the first time or when seeing my first Hayao Miyazaki film. Glad it inspired him and he went on to direct great movies like Sicario et al.

I love how he didn't take the project of Blade Runner 2049 as a job, the movie is stunning in every single aspect and only because it was Denis Villeneuve's dream to make this movie and to me, I like 2049 more than the first Blade Runner (please don't hate me) and to me this was the best movie of 2017

I-m the same way. First time I saw it, I actually could feel this was our future. Same with 2049. I-d like to say this movie series is probably the most realistic depiction of a possible future for humanity (add interstellar, children of men and the expanse and you got it down 100%.

I watch the original at least once a month, for about two decades now. But every time I see Gaff, I can't help but see him shouting -So Say We All! - in my minds eye.
I feel like I need Denis to remodel my house. I've got an Ikea 1 mile away. Boom, boom. Done.

It makes me so happy that they chose someone who is a major Blade Runner fan to take care of the sequel. I think almost all original fans flipped when the sequel was announced, but we can relax because it really is in good hands.

- overpopulation
- multiculturalism
- death of species
- social isolation
- environmental problems
- man plays god
the only SCI FI movie that can actually become reality. oh wait.

That is exactly how one master passes the skill and inspires another genearation of creators! Thanks to both directors for the original and the sequel! Amazing cinematography!

As a Canadian born and bred, Denis does us proud. He pulls this off, and dare I say, Dune, he'll be in the annals of the all time great sci-fi/fantasy directors.
