How the Titanic Was Discovered During a Secret Cold War Mission

Early in the morning of April 15, 1912, the world's largest ocean liner slipped beneath the icy waves of the North Atlantic, carrying 1, 500 people to their graves. For decades, the shipwreck remained hidden - but how did they find the Titanic? Treasure hunters searched for the ocean liner for years, hoping to find valuable items that sank with the Titanic. But in 1985, oceanographer Robert Ballard successfully found the Titanic on a scientific mission. Or, at least, that's what he told the press. The mission was strictly scientific, one scientist told The New York Times in 1985. In fact, the search for the Titanic was actually a cover story for a secret Cold War mission.

The thing that burns me is those that have seen the movie Raise The Titanic but haven't read the book. The movie and book have two things in common, first that the protagonist was Dirk Pitt and that the Titanic was raised, but nothing else. Characters were never mentioned and plot lines ignored. When the movie came out only one theater in town had the movie and they were charging 12. 00 to see the movie. Since entrance fees for most movies back then was 3. 00, no way in hell was I going to see the movie. Nearly 20 years later, with a Blockbuster gift card in hand, I saw the movie for free and I was very, very, relieved that I didn't spend the 12. 00 to see it as I had read the book and found the movie to be trash.

It s interesting to think that there are TWO Italian animated knockoff movies that both repeatedly refer to the legend of The Titanic, explicitly treating the story like a fairy tale. One even opens with a cartoon mouse saying, Most people think thr Titanic was only a legend, but here s the REAL story!
(I can t remember if this was the one with the rapping dog or the one where an octopus saved everybody)

I get treating the relics with respect and I really, really don't think they should be owned privately. But over a century later there are no human remains. Brining up chunks of the ship, furnishings, and even personal effects are artifacts of history. It's not like digging up someone's coffin and stealing the wedding ring they were buried with.

I remember hearing the story of a young lady taking her grandmother to the movie and her ferling it was the real deal, the grandma said they were so close why couldn't they save us. meaning the crew that was filming the movie. That's not verbatim. But I remember the gist of it years later.

The entire his-story behind Titanic is a giant lie. The Titanic didn t sink the Olympic was sunk on purpose by White Star for the insurance policy. Just like the World Trade Center twin towers! The people behind these lies are criminals.

Just imagine how James Cameron must have reacted to the news. He was probably furiously scribbling notes and thinking, I'm gonna make a movie out of this. It'll have love and death and nudity. And one guy is gonna bounce off the propeller!

They have other exhibits in Tennessee and Georgia one or both places are haunted by the people that were on the doomed ship I'd love to see either place just to experience what happened on that unfated day

0: 43 Wherefore doesn t mean where. It means why. You asked, WHY are you, Titanic, not WHERE are you Titanic.
