Houdini was not killed by a stage stunt. He was killed when his appendix ruptured because a kid struck him in the stomach when he wasn't ready for it. His abdominal muscles were so strong that if he knew it was coming it wouldn't hurt him a bit to punch him in the stomach

Fun fact Houdini once nearly died because his crate landed with the trap door jammed in the mud of the river and he couldn t open it. luckily he got himself free after some struggling for a bit.
