The Pat Sajak/Vanna White Era of Wheel of Fortune began on September 19, 1983 which would go on be The longest running syndicated Game Show in US History for 39 consecutive seasons (Soon to be 40) and ranked #2 on The List of The 60 Greatest Game Shows Ever according to TV Guide and would give Pat Sajak The Honor of The Longest running Game Show host of all time surpassing Bob Barker who hosted The Price Is Right from 1972-2007

I love this series of Timeline. The thing I most often remember is this was the year that the most abysmal season of television, the 1983-1984 season, started. NBC's tv season was so horrible, only a few shows like _Cheers_ and _Night Court_, paired with miniseries like _V_ and a few first run movies (which was a coup for them as most first run films went to ABC) saved them from bankruptcy. _Manimal_ was one of the worst of the shows.

Why is it when black people do something for the first time they need to nationally celebrate it? Like they Miss USA pageant winner? Who gives a s? You're doing something that hundreds of people have done before you and now you want recognition just because of the color of your skin? Get out of here with that f racism.

The video says that the Star Wars defense work went nowhere. That's a complete lie. I've worked as a missile guidance engineer for 37 years and, the work done in the early days laid the groundwork for a lot things that are fielded today, such as satellite killer missiles and anti-ballistic missile work (like Pac-2 and SM-6.

The 80s were far less shitty than the 70s. This is clearer than ever from this series. The 90s hit peak fun. I'm a little sorry my kids don't live in as fun a time as I did. But at least I don't worry that they're up to the kind of shit I was. Long live the 90s

Today is October 23rd and I turned this particular video on for my husband to watch and was SHOCKED that you didnt even mention the 1983 Beirut Bombing that killed 241 service members. My husband was there and dug up many of friends.

Thanks, I can't believe the 80s is such a long time ago. I really loved the 80s, so much excitement and joy, always something new and exciting. So different from the depressing world we live in today.

Oh you guys forgot to mention the movie Risky Business. the movie that launched every teenager in America demanding to have a pair of Ray Bans Wayfarer sunglasses. A craze that still goes on today.

I was always disappointed that the Irish Clean soap didn't spray water out of it like in the commercials. I would peek into the carton to see if it only happened when it was new. Ahh to be 6 again

What happened? The A Team TV series had less than 5 sec. Intro. The A Team TV series was very pretty popular in the 80. Also the intro of the movie the War Game movie too.

I was 3 when the Thriller video came out, my older aunts obsessing over it. I dont recall being 3, but I do remember being prettified of that video.

You say Star Wars went nowhere?
It caused the Soviet Union to spend itself into dissolution, trying to keep up. I'd say that is very much somewhere.
