I've been suspecting for a long time i have DPDR considering that as long as i can remember msot if my days im dissociated. I know they might ask how it feels if i get assessed but i cant explain it since ite normal for me and ive gotten used to calling it dissociation bc i know thays what it is.
thankfully it isn't as bad as it used to be but im usually at least a bit dissociated unfortunately. I'm glad i knew the people and things i did when i went through the first bad episode i recognized and remembered because if i didn't i dont think I'd know this wasn't normal until wayy later in my life (the episode was over 6 hours long. I'm hoping that when i finally see a psychologist that once i trust them enough ill be able to open up to them about this and they'll actually take me seriously. I know what i experience isn't normal and is highly likely to be a dissoctive disorder of some kind but i just want to be validated and know im not losing my mind.
I don't remember any trauma happening to me and that makes me more scared that no one will believe me bc i have nothing to recall and say that maybe that contributed to it.
I honestly feel like im faking even though i know its a genuine issue for me. I'm so used to being dissociated to some degree that im scared that finally being grounded will feel just as wrong to me as dissociation does.
I don't have a therapist and do not want one, though. Not because I don't want help, but because I don't like the idea of it. A stranger that can easily send me to a mental facility knowing about me more than I might. And they can easily tell my family things I dont want them to too. I like the idea of knowing what I have and assisting myself in coping with it. I enjoy independence and therapy sounds way way wayy too stressful for me.

Its weird because Ive never really considered this being real but Ive had instances that match whats being shared in this video, Ive noticed that there are huge blanks in my early childhood except for certain specific events, Ive definitely had a moment where I blanked out leaving work and I got home not knowing how I got there but I was definitely confused and felt odd, and Ive consciously caught myself quite frequently saying or doing things that werent normal for me and its weird because I dont think Ive ever really named this other personality until a conversation with my mother happened in my late teenage years where she told me that she almost named me Tyler instead of Kyle and I believe that truly birthed the existence of Tyler and for a while after that there are moments Ive identified as Tyler instead of Kyle without a second thought to it. And I believe Tyler was there for me as a child during the instances where I didnt like the negative energy my parents would put out in the house violently arguing and almost physically abusing each other and Im just glad the topic of DID came up recently for me to look into it some more

I've been dissociating since I was a kid, often so lost in thoughts that I forget where I am or what I'm doing. I can go to a store or take baths and not be present, then have that realisation that I'm doing a task at this moment. It's a coping mechanism that I fostered because I was too stressed growing up for multiple reasons (abusive parents, bullying, loneliness) and would go on to create fantasy, ideal version of myself. Once I got injured because of it, and since then, I've made conscious effort to be present in the moment. Because I tend to resort to my daydreaming, I'm incredibly bad at dealing with real life stress (too irritable, emotional and neglectful of myself) and feel that constant pull of just immersing myself in my daydream worlds or consume media so I don't have to face the issues. I still struggle so much with stress and it affects my performance and relationships, but I'm glad that I'm now able to acknowledge my problem and look for better ways of managing. It hasn't been easy, but I genuinely feel happy now and intrested in my own growth, even when I get depressed or too anxious sometimes.

. i mean the memory gaps is really frequent for me, my blurred sense of identity is also strangely strong. its just that i feel iam an entirely different person depending on the person/group of ppl iam with. also depending on the time of day, in the morning i feel really tired and almost have no emotions or even care about my surroundings, in the afternoon i'm sensitive and always acts on a whim without even thinking probably, at night however i feel more collected and think rationally alot (which lead to my self hatered since i keep thinking about the things i did and how they are entirely wrong and idiotic. i also think my morals are not even stable, yea i know that i should be growing mentally as the years and months go by (iam 17 male) but still i think that even if a question is directed at me about some kind of problem or someone asking me for some advice, i will give entirely different answers every time, it honestly scares me how much iam different from. well. me.

just to share my experience to those of you who are questioning lately. I want to say what derealization feels like to me because the description is the video doesn't sound like my experience. I want to give another point of view which is important and can be helpful when you're looking for the right diagnosis. For me it feels more like I'm in a film, it's not like things are in 2D it's actually the opposite it looks more like bad 3D, like animations, sometimes it feels like people are actors. Sometimes my vision gets a little blurry cuz it often comes with dissociation and it makes my eyes weird. It's hard to concentrate because everything is weird and abnormal, if I'm with a group of friends it's hard to keep track of what's going on and what they're saying. Basically your surroundings feel uncomfortable, unreal, fake. It's kinda hard to explain but I hope this is understandable and that's it's helped some people: )

I dont think this is dissociative disorders, but I do daydream and possibly have hyperfantasia (not diagnosed, but it gets to the point where it directly affects my emotions. I dont daydream about myself, usually just about my OCs (this may sound childish, as in: I feel sad, remember one of them and that they have a rather positive outlook on things. I start feeling cheered up. I can feel happy, then to outright sobbing because of another OCs negative view of the world. And it feels as if I AM them. Almost all day, the second I have a few moments to myself, I either start composing a story in my head about one of them, or I literally start being them. I only mildly relate to the dissociative disorder sign of not recognizing yourself in the mirror, but its usually just caused by my constant imagination that I AM one of my OCs.

i used to always describe it as feeling like everyone is acting or LARPing but im never able to get into character. like everyone else seems more able to just be who they are but its like im always a little too aware that the person inside my head and the person i am out in the world are not the same person, and then i spiral off about how every individual has a different version of me from their own perspective and i get extremely overwhelmed by that thought very quickly. idk, ive always struggled with the whole theory of mind thing, its always freaked me out for some reason

I think I see a very niche easter egg in the video.
At 1: 45, is that blonde haired character a chibi Gourry Gabriev from the Slayers anime? The outfit is 100% identical to what he wears, and even has his long blonde hair style down perfectly.
Even more, Gourry was known to have memory problems and some intellectual difficulties himself. It makes the amnesia stuff pseudo fitting.
Thats a huge coincidence if it isn't him, and a very interesting choice if it is him. Because this isn't really an anime I think many people would know about. Thats a nice easter egg.

It hurts so much. I am pretty sure I have some sort of dissociation trauma stuff, but i feel like every time I try to take a step forward with my life I get picked apart by my mom and I just end up wanting to never move out despite knowing that she is why I feel this way. I feel so trapped and she isn't even trying to be a bad person. That makes it so much worse. I can't bring myself to cut her off bc she does actually love me, but she also talks to me is such a round about way I am destined to fail regardless of my actions

I searched up dissociative disorders to figure myself out. I have been diagnosed formally with depersonalization/derealization disorder, but there was always so much more that hasnt fit. Why do I feel like someone else? Why dont I recognize myself in the mirror? Why do I feel as if I have a completely different personality or gender? Why cant I remember what I did today well? Why does this happen to me? Im still not entirely sure whats wrong with me, but I guess it helps a bit to know that Im not alone

We actualy do have Dissociative Idenity Disorder, atleast we are 99% sure of it. Having those symptons at an early age and only recently being able to connect with the other personalities has made us realise this on our own before we even knew about the term.
We are getting a therapist soon, mainly for out genderdysphoria and top surgery (yay) but i'll make sure he also knows about the DID.

i often have moments where my surroundings look fake, i sometimes look in the mirror and don't see myself, and i spent about 3 hours talking to the other voice in my head through the notes app. he named himself i think. sometimes i can't even tell how he feels, when i'm talking to him, though a lot of the time i can. he thinks he's a fictional character. i can't sleep. i don't know what to do.

I saw this video awhile back and thought to myself that this was pretty strange and I couldnt imagine how people experienced this. But lately Ive noticed that Ive begun to view my life like im playing a video game, like its not really happening and im just watching over my shoulder. I dont notice that its happening until I sort of snap back into reality. Now I get it.

I wonder if this applies to me but, sometimes I sit at my desk and already there are notes written suddenly and I feel what one would feel after a bad nap (sleep inertia) and I do things I normally wouldnt do, like, move things around my room, people have also told me sometimes I act weirdly and I have no idea what the hell is going on with me

Sometimes I fell insane and the world around me is a simulation that in reality everyone and thing is against me irl. Lately Ive been zoning out more often and having episodes where I feel as if I dont exist.
Is it possible (Im not saying this is an official diagnosis and wont take it as one) that I have depersonalize disorder?

For me right now, is veeery interesting to know something about. war survivor psychology or person who is going through war times at the moment. Im still wandering what is normal to happen with those people mental health and feelings, like you just dont know if this is just an ordinary way to feel in youre situation or you just going crazy. :/

I dont want to self diagnose but I dont have the chance of getting actual help so could anyone knows about this answer please? Is it possible to have this disorder but only experience it in some specific triggers rather than experiencing daily? Or is it just a very normal way of coping?

yes I feel like I am living 4 to 5 identities
sometimes there will be sudden loss of emotions
wish me luck I will start to understand and realise who I am
Achieving your childhood dreams
Fullfilling your inner childs needs in the forms of dream is best thing you can do

How do you do less when you arent even really doing anything to begin with? The stress is enough to push you away completely, despite how much if effects important things. I get exhausted just from the thought, but then hate myself for doing nothing. Its a vicious cycle fr

This happened to me frequently living with my abusive mother. One day it got so bad I started hallucinating as well. along with the disassociation and ended up in a hospital for a couple of months. Going through trauma is no joke. it can break you.
