I attract MANY narcissists in my life because my father is a narcissist and I've been conditioned to accept their behavior as normalcy, at the very least, familiarity.
I realized I had stayed so long in a manipulative, emotionally abusive relationship because he was very similar to my father. Their boastful maneurisms whenever they had a little too much to drink, the way they tell their entire life stories to complete strangers to garner sympathy and attention, the way they love the sound of their own voices, their authentically fragile egos, natural jealousies and insecurities, fear of being alone, lack of accountability and most damaging of all, their complete inability to realize wrongdoings. The ex iked to gaslight. Helped him escape guilt or having to apologize and feel shame.
I recently cut off many people from my life who I thought were true friends but ended up being as fake as they come. One of those so called friends was a woman I had known for many, many years. She HAD to be the center of attention and people loved her for it. Hell, I loved her for it. But she ended up being the type that smile sweetly and tell someone how loved they are, but the moment they leave, talks shiit about them, lol. You know the type. Highly manipulative. Anyway, I began noticing how my other friends would change after hanging around this woman and they began talking tons and tons of shiit, too. They sounded miserable. Their entire characters switched and they became really ugly people. That seems to be the most powerful tool of the narc, be charming andbthey will come running. Once they do, youve got them under your mental control. I feel my ex did this to me in several ways and I'm still trying desperately to stave off the ill aftermath in the wake of destruction he created. We created.
Please listen. You MUST remove these people from your lives at ALL COST. They aren't good people, they pretend to be. And they know it.

It took me a while for me to admit that an online friend I had was a manipulative, self-centered narcissist. Anytime someone showed an once of self-respect and individuality shed use her group to tear them down and would use me as well.
I knew it was wrong, but stayed by her side as a kid who wanted validation from such a toxic woman. Others tried to show me the path of being free and valuing a true bond yet I turned it down because I was an idiot who didnt want to acknowledge the truth that my friend was toxic. She convinced me that I was more toxic than her and would even lie about things to others about me, yet I still went back and tried to see if shed change: /
She would hang out with awful people, and would side with them even when others felt uncomfortable. Only when they turn against her she would dismiss them.
To her, No one was allowed to be a have a pfp of a certain/ main character of a franchise. She absolutely wanted the spotlight in the group, and would say things like
youre not this race to be the character
you dont have big boobs like me.
And would often make me feel insecure about myself for not looking a certain way by saving pictures of me or my mistakes as a reminder to exploit whenever she can.
Anytime I tried to show decency towards others she would find ways to make schemes with her toxic buddies and hurt them, belittle or flat out bully and would convince me that they did something to hurt her ego.
It was draining, and Im glad I grew to drop someone like that from my life. I cant imagine living the rest of my life living in such misery to never change your ways and hurt others when they prove to be their own person. She really did bring out the worst part about me and influenced me to devalue others if it didnt serve her

I looked up this video for my parents because I've been suspecting that their so called friends (who are also their retired next door neighbors) are narcissists for awhile. This definitely confirmed it for me. The first time I met them, they appeared overly friendly and as if they were coming on too strong; trying too hard to get me to like them. Then after all of the love bombing and saying all the right things to our faces, they'd start bragging A LOT about themselves, their children and their grandchildren. They would go on and on about their status, their degrees; how hard working, successful, rich and smart they are. They would often bring up the jobs they used to do. What their grown children do and how much money they make. They always praise their children and make sure my parents know how AMAZING their parenting skills are. It's as if none of them can do anything wrong. They are constantly fishing for compliments and making every conversation about them. Then they are always inviting themselves over whenever they feel like it. It's as if they are entitled to my parents' time and personal space just because they LOVE them, or so they claim. Honestly I just feel as if they use my parents for their own entertainment so they can brag about themselves. I don't know how my parents can stand them, but I have to constantly remind myself that they are my parents' friends not mine. Any time they come around when I'm around, I just leave or avoid them.

These are some warning signs I want to share with you all, to see if you should keep a healthy distance from a friend and maybe invest a little less in this person:
-talking bad about mutual friends or treating them badly.
-making jokes about your insecurities. A true fiend never wants to see you hurt and true friends build you up.
-jealousy. If a friend can not be happy for you.
-your intuition tells you they don't really respect you or are not that invested in your friendship.
-if you question your relationship with someone, take that seriously. You don't question your other relationships that way probably.
-you see them ghosting others or give you the silent treatment. Silent treatment is not just ignoring you or texting back later. It's purposely holding back contact to confuse you or punish you for something they think you did wrong. But you have to figure that out on your own, they don't tell you.
-if you never know what mood they are going to be in.
-you make up excuses for their bad behavior because you know they have had a tough time.
Remember that you deserve to meet up with friends that build you up and make you feel good. If they make you feel bad, life is too short to waste it on them.

It's weird. A buddy is 100% narcissistic: steals convos to talk about himself, doesn't care for what our group does for him, constantly mentions status, style and fitness, looks down on a certain friend and myself compared to our more successful friends, seeks praise constantly. I know it comes from his awful breakup though.
He was a little like this before but after his best friend sabotaged his relationship to get w/his girlfriend his narcissistic tendencies have quadrupled. Our group has brought it up to him and he hasn't really worked on it. Whenever that other less successful friend or myself gets a compliment he's either quiet or diverts the attention to himself (I was complimented on my workout progress on video call in a tangtop, he immediately rolled up his sleeves. Getting to the point where it makes me angry, and I'm starting to feel competitive tendencies that don't mix eith me. Don't wanna drop the guy but I plan to make some distance.

I have a narcissistic friend. I woke up to a message that I received at 4. 30 am about something we like. So I asked him if he was kept up all night by his neighbour. He says no I always stay up this late (for the record, hes never told me this) so I replied with at that time though? His response: we stay out til 6am clubbing so no difference I said that's only on a weekend once every now and then though, this is a weekday he then starts telling me how I'm judging him and that everyday is a weekend for me. And told him that it seems you need more sleep. John, no I don't. And I'm like so why attack me like that? And he said no one is attacking you so stop playing the victim, fk off in the end my Mrs had spoke to him pretending to be me and then all of a sudden, his attitude changed. Now I just get the feeling all I seem to do unconsciously, is bring this out, when all I do is try to have fun and not hurt anyone

Ive been in a friendship with a narcissist for 12 years. I knew him since the 2nd grade and I just recently cut ties with him. I feel like hes the reason why I feel like a robot and been depressed. He would say things a friend shouldnt say to you and then cover it up as jokes, but I knew deep down inside he really meant it. For example we were playing fortnite and he got mad that I kept killing him over and over and he goes Michael I will always be better than you at everything you do. You see I told him he was a narcissist many times and he even admitted to it, but it took me a while to figure out that I was his victim. I dont know who I really am and Im trying to find myself now. He calls me every now and then but I dont answer. No one should go through this sh! t and if you are just try your best cut off ties with them even if you knew that person for a long time.

Is this a narcissistic friend: she always says negative things about me like one time she just shouted: Can you please stop being so weird OUT LOUD and she knows im a little shy and after, she says ugh it was just a joke but i felt sad, she also says things like she is some kind billinaire, i have been 6 times on a cruis ship. She always makes me feel insecure and like im not good enough. And i once talked back to her that i don't like it that when she shouts at me and. she begin to cry in the hallway like im a monster and everyone came to her and wanted to cheer her up, while i was crying angry tears in a corner because she was overreacting and no one cared about me, many girls in my class tought she was a sweet little girl but deep inside she's not there are a lot more things but yeah. Now i told a classmate about her and she understands me.

I have a narcissist friend. He is my friend for over a decade. But when i grow older i realized there's something wrong with him. It is psychologically exhausting to be with him in a long period of time. He is my only friend that i can share my problems. But i cannot handle his attitude anymore. I am tired, he manipulating me more often and belittle. So i guess i need to end our friendship because it is full of toxicity. He ain't apologize to me since when i stop entertaining him. But i can forgive him when he say sorry. I'll just give him time to reflect on who he really is and what he did to me. But seems like he never apologize to me. Narcissist don't apologize. If he really dont say sorry to me then he will indeed a narcissist.
(Sorry for my grammar and punctuations)

There are so many people that are narcissistic. It may look bad but if I could see the future with a narcissistic person. They will always says think I am worried about you, and I did not marry for love.
How can you live alone because they reply I could never live on my own. If I make a mistake the narcissistic personality respond I don't work with certain people.
If takes a long time to see this unfair manipulation and they also might say you control other people.
If I am doing well on my job even though I was a victim of a hit and run accident they would respond that is why God put you in this position as he knows if you were physically able you would be dangerous to criminals. What a lot of fool talk

My best (and only) friend is 100% a narcissist and I've known it for years. He only talks about his own interests, only wants to hang out with me when we do things he wants to do, will talk to me for hours on the phone about ONLY his own interests & his day (but hates my own interests, expects me to play games he likes but won't play games I like, is a jerk toward me when we're around other people, has a MASSIVELY high view of himself and is overconfident in pretty much every area of life. He checks every box in this video. It baffles me how a person can be so un-self-aware.
I'm so bitter about this friendship that sometimes I ignore this guy's messages for hours or days at a time

Oh yeah I got some narcist friends. They only want me around to pay for their gas when we go to Skateparks not because they actually like my company. They talk behind your back when they don't think you can hear them. They will pick you up just to bring you down. They will steal you're Skate tools you're money, water, food. They will only be nice to you when they want something. They walk away acting uninterested. So yeah I know a few. I wouldn't actually call them friends though. More like d bags. I do have some good friends. I just won't hang with the d bags. I hope they read this somehow. You know who you are. And have some balls to tell me you just don't like me. Ha ha. No really.

i realised i had three narcissistic friends (during primary school and middle school, seems like i was an easy target. At that time, i didn't know why i felt the need to please them constantly or to receive their validation. I was at a point where even true friends i had, started keeping their distance from me because i kept defending the narc friends. However, whatever i did was never enough. I never had the opportunity to witness them showing kindness towards me or anyone, really, in any possible way. It felt like i was always the problem, the cause of my own disgrace. Now i'm working on my self-esteem and also trying to build healthy relationships with worthy friends.

yes, much i had all of these signs with my ex bff, she always guilt tripped me too, and I had to write her a whole paragraph THEN she would come back an hour later and say oh I'm SOOO sorry
and it just fixed our fight, she even said sorry doesn't fix it, she's basically a hypocrite, and when i don't write her a paragraph she gets mad and starts victimizing herself. she calls me names (that are very rude) but when i call her fat pig, she makes a whole argument over it, I don't get it and when i finally confront her she denies it she makes me the bad guy just like our other fights.

i hope someone replies to this. i recently cut my friendship with a narcissist friend and i feel much more stress-free and all. but after a few weeks they are starting to react to me minding my own business. such as turning my acquaintances against me by saying stuff behind my back (including lies. publicly gossiping about me (which i suspect is to attack my self confidence. or just bluntly trying to hurt my feelings that which i ignoring frustrates them into doing something worse. for me this is too much drama and i really don't wanna deal with this. what should i do?

With my best partner for 20 yrs (he was never narcissist) a great soulmate but sadly he passed away in 2020. I felt so lonely. I can't find someone who's empathy like my partner, it's not the same anymore. And I've been rejected so many by narcissist because I don't have the looks like them. I've been called UGLY a thousand times ever since. (My partner always compliment like You're cute, You're sweet, I miss hearing him saying that to me and I said the same thing to him too, we complimented to each other. I'm forever grateful in his life for 20 yrs.

It's great that you are putting these videos out. I wonder if you might include covert narcissists, the harder to spot, presenting as fragile (I get all narcs are fragile) with little confidence, and the abuse tends to be harder to identify. It is incredibly damaging when survivors get help and are further traumatised by therapists and society as a whole who do not recognize the abuse or that the abuser is personality disordered. 'That's not s narcissist; they arent arrogant, vain, grandiose'.

Im quite narcissistic myself but I have known others
For me its under control these days and has always been well hidden my whole life. Atleast that side of my mental health
The depression side of me is more noticed
The narcissistic thoughts goes away when I jack off though
However actions speak louder anyways
Sometimes are thoughts are out of our control however o dont think its an excuse to make others feel bad or hurt others

Im sadly dealing with this rn. This person still resists to see my point of view after explaining myself more than once, and still sees my POV as gossiping, talking sht about this person, dictating who my friends are or not because that friend introduced me to them. I had this person stay with me out of help, and felt drained for this person using my belongings without asking. and any way do confronting this friend, they take it as an attack.

Though it's been many years, I am working through a traumatic situation with a former friend who was very narcissistic. She made it sound like I was her best friend but would leave me at the bottom of her list unless she wanted something. She also shifted the conversation back to her and what she was trying to do whenever I would talk about anyone else. Finally, if I confronted her, she get very nasty.
reply

My high school best friend is a narcissist and it was frustrating how she operated. She dubbed herself The Logical One while I was overemotional. Meanwhile, any time we had a disagreement, she was always the one to get petty, passive-aggressive, and mean. She always had to be right, and calling her in on her harmful behaviour equated to failing to accept her because that's just who she is.
reply

My buddy insists he can't go out with people or to bars too much because it's always someone else over stepping their bounds or talking smack in some covert way. So they get into altercations with strangers and always have an excuse that the other person started it in some subtle or abrupt way. Would that be a narcissistic red flag or a different kind of red flag altogether?
