Musical texture explained. Texture is the word we use to describe how sound is organised. Texture might be described as high or low, depending on the pitch; as thick or thin, depending on how many notes are sounding at any one time; as widely spaced, if there is a large gap between the highest and lowest sounds. Texture may also be described as homophonic if the music is essentially organised with a chordal formation (block chords, broken or arpeggiated chords). Alternatively, texture may be described as polyphonic or contrapuntal if the various parts are layered on top of each other. Texture may be consistent within a piece or may vary. This music theory lesson explains these and other possibilities. Ideal for performers wanting to understand the textures they are playing, for those needing to analyse textures or to talk about them in exam aural tests, and for composers needing to think about how to vary textures. to musical texture 0:32 - Thick or thin textures 2:14 - High or low textures 3:15 - Descriptive words for texture 6:32 - Melodic texture

thank you!
I have a couple of questions:
1- what is the spreading of a chord is called, for example if CM is played like C4 E4 G4 C5 G5 it would sound shinier and brighter than two CM chords stacked on top of each other, and are there books discussing this topic deeply?
2- if a song in B minor , and there's a chord progression like : Bm - AM - Bm , and is accompanied by a base line like A2 - A2 - B2 respectively ( by contrabass pizzicato ), now the first Bm/A sounds good as long as the Bm is in a high octave and the A is in a low octave, and they're not good if they're close, ( also they don't sound that good on piano but sound good on separate instruments), why does that happen, what is it called, and is there books discussing this topic deeply?
sorry if it's too long

HAPPY 2018....I'm glad your taking REQUESTS...as indicated in this tutorial.
I Would Like to request a Tutorial on Your Opening and Closing Melody. Namely the Alphabet Names and inversions, of your UTUBE Jingle/Tune.
Daily I try to familiarise myself in Aural Ear Training. If you could confirm the CHORDS used then every time we hear your UTUBE Jingle we be reminded of the names for the Chord sounds.
Advanced Thanks, in anticipation of a reply from yourself.
