The Secret to the Mongols' Success - Ancient Workouts with Omar jonh: Mongol individual training would just be their everyday life for the most part: hunting and herding animals would work their archery and horseback ridding skills, they also seem to enjoy contests of strength such as wrestling(which seems to be present in all warrior cultures) which is still traditionally practiced in Mongolia and Inner Mongolia to this day, for unit tactics they would learn with games such as the aforementioned -great hunt-, the mongols also had a very good protein based diet consistent mostly of meat, dairy sometimes vegetables and later spices, very rarely relying on grains or such other carbs, in short they lived a pastoralist lifestyle and it seems to have made them into great warriors.

Hi Omar, I like the show a lot! I'm an health & wellness enthusiast and a history buff, so it's perfect for a guy like me. Here's a couple suggestions for your show though:
1) can you wear a lighter color outfit to contrast against the background. It's a little hard to see your form for each exercise.
2) Can you five a recommended full workout using the three exercises. say -do this for 3 sets of 15 reps and you'll be an Ancient Warrior- or something. lol. I think it flashes across the screen briefly, but it would be great if you can sum it up at the end.
BTW, what about the Knights of the Ottoman Empire that fought during the Crusades? That would be cool. Thanks! Keep up the good work!

Yeah, there was freedom of religion, but the massive slaughter of millions of people kinda made it obvious it was better NOT to fight the Mongols. Fun fact: Mongols actually put meat under their horse's saddles where the horses heat cooked the meat. They didn't invent this tactic but they developed it to a higher degree. The meat softened and cooked and stayed fresher than anything they had in those days.

They would have eaten lots of a sort of fresh cheese as well. They would use the stomachs of slaughtered animals to carry milk. The natural rennet in the stomach would curdle the milk and make it last longer on the road. Also, they would have drunk lots of fermented milk products, again, because they were more shelf-stable.

Cool video. I-ve been to Mongolia and traveled through the Gobi desert there, it-s the most massive landscape I-ve ever seen, goes forever. Many nomads still live off the land and ride horses and camels for transport. I-d love to see you guys do a Persian Immortals episode! Cheers.

I'm newer to your vids but a suggestion that would probably be similar to the mongols is a group called the Scythians. It would probably be about the same as the Mongols because they were nomadic horsemen also. I haven't done much research on them but might be worth a look.

7: 40 other nations such as lithuanians later adapted this strategy into their own military catalogue. This tactic eventually helped in winning against the Teutonic order and for that we can thank the mongolian massive balls for teaching this godmode tactic.

I love this guy. He could be my 20 year younger twin! It's like looking at a 20 year old mirror, seriously! The workout is G2G and practical. but I was so hoping he'd do a clean jerk! Like the immense historical knowledge in it.

0: 45 why such arognt facial expression? You seems like a fan of genghis khan and his bruttal morality. Before you follow someone ask must yourself whether shall I follow him/her or not? Is it good to follow him/her or not?

For the first time, a proper media promoting actual health than the garbage -body positivity- with a hidden agenda of getting views/trps. Couldn-t have picked a better person to spearhead the series!

I'd love to see you do some of the exercises the ancient warriors do( a weighted ladder climb for the knights episode or try to fire a bow from horse back) keep up the great work. Do the Aztecs next!

Realy liking these dives into hostorical warriors and thier workouts that would help achieve a similar level of athletisism. Probablg gonna add that copenhagen plank to the morning routines.

It is unbelievable. And untrue. Certain Hindu and Buddhist empires were more tolerant by definition since eastern theology doesn't exactly differentiate believers and non believers.

-The Mongols was successful because they never fought a worthy army, they had a real taste of battle when they tried to take japan and the mamluks and they lost both times. -
reply

-The Mongols were determined to never shed the blood of opposing leaders. - -
-Instead they trampled the opposing leaders with horses to kill them without making them bleed. - -

When I hear Mongols, I think Awsome Strategy, Excellent Tactics and Diplomacy, as well as the Swiftest Mobility and Communication system known at the time.

Legionnaires of Rome
Celts particularly of Ireland but other regions would still be good.
Aztecs
Zulu impi
Zande
Dahomey Amazons

Shout out to this show! And shout out to Prof. Rossabi! If anyone is an authority of the Mongols, it's him! Awesome that he showed up here!

Still loving everything about this series. Cool to see that even the mongols believed in sport specific training down to the tactics.
