I am going to be a total nerd and correct you. The original Greek mythology surrounding the hydra wasn't that multiple heads regrew just that the heads never stopped regrowing. and were spewing toxic gas and blood everywhere. It may seem insignificant but the moral of the story changes completely. In the original story it was all about being clever and working your way through known steps in order to conquer any ordeal no matter how difficult a task may seem. The modern version is all about teaching you that fighting only results in a more powerful enemy, only reaching the core of the problem and stabbing at it will help.

The fact it changes all its cells every 20 days and keeps being itself shows that your essence your own identity transcends matter, its like your essence is a kind of immaterial spirit that uses matter to exist in this reality. It may be a hint that when we die our essence or soul will just search and start building another body somewhere else in another reality.

This is why I say Generic engineering should be more possible I mean near immortality sounds awesome however I'm aware humans are to complex to have it at the level those things do I mean if our brain gets damaged we reset basically it could heal but our memories will never come back

I wonder how it even has the function to do that if it has no brain causing those little tentacles to react. We are literally our brains, our brains are what allow us to move. Our fingers move because our brain tells them to. These things are so strange.

the term undying is grossly exaggerated. remove it from water and put it in an 800 degree oven until it turns to ashes. we'll see how it reassembles after that. nothing on our planet is immortal.

I recall my high school biology teacher 30 years ago saying hydra could be mushed and the cells would reorganize back into a hydra. Also some sponges will somewhat reform after mushing.
