flies are pests but to harvest a brain fungus to kill them in a home is unethical to me i wouldnt want vermin such as rats suffering in order to be ridden from the city, just place rat traps and leave it to extermination pros

Almost the same thing with Cordyceps and ants, making them climb up a plant stem or similar before making them clamp their mandibles in a kind of death grip. Then just like the fly the fungus will emerge and spread.
