Stephen King: Turned Real Horrors Into Tales - Full Biography (It, The Shining, Pet Sematary) Biography Stephen Edwin King was born on September 21, 1947, in Portland, Maine. He grew up in a challenging environment, with his father leaving the family when he was very young. Despite this, young King found solace in books and writing, and by the time he reached high school, he had already begun publishing short stories in his school newspaper. After graduating, King attended the University of Maine, where he studied English. It was during this time that he met his future wife, Tabitha Spruce. However, after his graduation in 1970, King struggled to find stable employment, often working in low-paying jobs. In 1974, King published his debut novel, "Carrie," which became a huge success and helped him establish himself as a formidable author in the horror genre. This was followed by a string of best-selling books, including "The Shining," "Cujo," and "Pet Sematary." Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, King continued to release a prolific amount of work, including novels, novellas, and short stories. Continuously pushing the boundaries of horror fiction, King's novels often incorporate elements of supernatural, psychological terror, and ordinary people facing extraordinary circumstances. His writing style is characterized by his ability to create vivid and relatable characters in terrifying situations, making readers care deeply about their fates. Aside from his success as a novelist, King also ventured into other creative outlets. He has written screenplays for several adaptations of his own works, including the iconic film "The Shawshank Redemption," based on the novella "Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption," and the highly acclaimed miniseries "It." Over the years, Stephen King has received numerous awards and recognition for his contributions to the horror genre and popular literature. In 2003, he was honored with the National Book Foundation Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters. His works have been adapted into countless films, TV shows, and even comic books, solidifying his place as one of the most influential and successful authors of all time. Despite achieving incredible success, King remains humble and down-to-earth. He continues to be an active writer, frequently publishing new works, and engaging with his fans through social media. His popularity shows no signs of waning, as fans eagerly await each new release from this master of horror. The talent Stephen King possesses to bring characters to life is astounding. I especially appreciate his inclusion of characters with mental illness (shout out to his mother who cared for these individuals, giving her son insight into the best side of their personalities. Always, Stephen King creatively exposes and uses the uniique beauty and madness that resides within the human heart and soul, to tell a tale that richly imacts the psyche of his readers. Although most would not consider the genre of -horror- to elicit a response of comfort, the consistency and authenticity of Kings characters soothe me. While I agree his most popular books (The Shining, The Stand and Stand by me, are indeed fabulous, I include Duma Key, Liseys Story, Rose Madder, Geralds Game and Christine as my favorites.\r\n

Ive read a majority of his work, and he is immensely talented, not very many writers can draw you in like King. Ever noticed the coalition between a number of the predators in King's novels, and the recent conspiracy theories of Elite Pedovores. The predation of children, consumption of the blood of frighten children and cannibalism. Predominantly in Dr. sleep, black house, stranger. etc. some of these coincidence are a little chilling to say the least, like he knows a bit about ritual sacrifice and blood magic just saying, and just my opinion of course, but unnerving because the ratio of Conspiracy theories that are now proven facts!

I think, in spite of the super horror of most of his novels, Stephen King is the best writer in the world. What makes his -written words- so great is his relationship within his characters. He manages to intertwine the reader with the people in the novel. He is and always will be the best of what he is at what he does, especially the fact that he is a baby boomer like me and only about a year younger. He turned me into a lover of writing and much of the horror of Science Fiction and the Paranormal. --

Everyone whoever sold their soul always says the same thing; -It's not worth it-. I have heard testimonies about people who have seen hell Enoch saw hell. He also saw fallen spirits chained up in the 2 nd echelon of heaven. They were chained up and screaming to Enoch to pray for him. My buddy Mike was taken to hell in a vision. I was the first person he confessed his vision to. What he saw was like a horror movie.

Stephen king is a leftist weirdoooo. I don't think he is all great as he is made out to be. honestly. most of his movies and books are dumb! Come on silver bullet, the lawnmower man, the mangler, maximum overdrive, riding the bullet. nah. I'm just not impressed! The fact that he backs biden really draws question to his mental stability! Not to mention he is a hideous being! Blahh. -- not good!

When you hear who King himself actually supports in this world, and who he's against, and what movement his daughter actually supports, it's obvious he's sold out to the demon's of this world. Is his next book entitled ' my life as a reptilian '! Or ' my life disguised as a human '. --- It's all in the face. --
When you know what type of stories Creep out Human beings.

Years ago, back in the mid 1970's my sister's friend got hit with a car right in front of her. The poor girl was killed instantly because she was dragged for a bit under the car. My sister still doesn't remember the incident. We learned from witnesses what happened. Very sad

It's unfortunate that these people think they can sell something they can't. I do believe that they've been duped because their work lacks since it's all over rated and popular in the secular world.
They can always ask for forgiveness and be saved at any moment.

Stephen King is an obvious idiot when it comes to politics. Anyone who can observe the current state of America should know that this is the result of Obama and Biden. I guess when a mind is obsessed with horror, they become oblivious to it in real life.

And I also grew up in Durham. I also had his English teacher Mrs Smith. She was very seasoned when she got me as a student, but she was proud of him! Last I knew there-s a picture of him in the library with a kindergarten class. Ass the kids look scared lol

Stephen King didn't have to sell his Soul to anyone to have Talent, he was Blessed with It from Birth. now, I can't speak to what he has or hasn't Done because of it. but he damn well didn't need to go swinging Deals to Pony Up to the Plate in the First Place

Storm of the Century, Sleep Walkers and Lawnmower Man are the only three I really
enjoyed. His movies are so long, that I just don't have the attention span to sit and
venge watch TV at all. He's good, but not the best in my opinion.

MIME-ograph? It's Mim-E-O-graph. I don't fault anyone for mispronouncing the word. It's a very old, defunct copying machine that I learned to use in high school in the 70-s. Be grateful they Invented the Xerox machine.

If he sold his soul for talent he got robbed. His writing is childish and predictable. He-s an overrated hack. The only thing the devil did was give him good PR and advertising. He-s an absolutely vile person too.
reply

King sold his soul for talent? Hahahahahahahaha! He should sue for breach of contract. He's still a talentless hack. I've read creepy pastas from reddit that were miles better than anything King ever produced.

Thanks for such a well made and interesting insight to my favorite authors and person. I know you couldn't include everything but I was very impressed with -The Tommy Knockers- Was this not one of his books?
reply

Sucks he became a out of touch wealthy American left extremist. I can separate the art from the artist but occasionally it is too much (his last book for example, fairy tale however (second last) is a banger.

The dark tower movie is a war crime. It's such an amazing magnum opus it's unbelievable, and worthy of being considered at Tolkien's level. But they made it into something unrecognizable. I'll never forgive.

The picture you used for Auburn, Maine is actually Auburn, Alabama, which is home to Auburn University. You might want to check your material a little better next time. Otherwise, I enjoyed the documentary.
reply

I always had that suspicion that Stephen King had a dark side to him. Anyone who could write horror stories brilliantly the way he did definitely had some encounter with evil in their lives.
reply

I went to high school with his niece. She was one of my best friends and an absolutely beautiful person. We were friends for awhile before I found out that Stephen was her uncle lol

I'm noticing with all of these biography stories, if you want to be extremely successful in the arts, have a childhood with an overly-emotional mother and a deadbeat dad.
reply

I own the uncut version of The Stand and I couldn't finish it. I lost track of everything and everyone around the halfway point, I just couldn't keep up, shame on me-
reply

Nah, he's just a good story teller. When it comes to these celebrity musicians and such I do believe they sold their soul, but book writing is just good imagination.
reply

I like them all but I think The Stand is awesome. I've been reading his books and watching his movies my whole life just about. Its been awesome! Thanks Steven!

In his autobiography he talks about his inspiration for Carrie. A religious mom of a friend asked him if he was saved. He said he was as saved as can be.
reply

My first exposure to King was -Carrie-, the movie. That started my reading almost every King novel after. My favorite book is -The Shining-.
reply

I follow him on Twitter (x) & he-s got much heart in his heart. Cannot stand him. Never read his books either. I only read non fiction.
reply

If King has sold his soul to the devil, that's a poor decision considering the evil protagonist in his books always end up the looser.
