Living Off Grid in a Yurt - Rainwater Harvesting - Ep. 44 TheJTcreate: You're not running the water through a sedimentation tank (or two) and then a basic gravel filter before going into the harvest tanks? That roof is not a clean water harvest point. Everything from tree debris to bug and bird poop lands on that roof. Also, I am not sure what material the roof is made of but it will degrade over time and could leach contaminants into the water. The gutters are definitely not design for dealing with drinkable water. You guys only water test for chemicals, heavy metals and minerals. They may test ok now but that change change in the next two years. Rain water can still get biologically contaminated, especially after long term storage. The right capture materials are not hard to get and a couple sedimentation tank and basic gravel filter is easy to build.

I commend your efforts as usual, Hi Jake, Hi Nicole, your a lovely looking young lady and I am sure many viewers would prefer you to continue in the same manner you have been, that said many of your viewers seem to consider it little more than click bait, a downgrade of your real value perhaps, is this the world we live in, perhaps, maybe Nicole in a yurt could take you further than Off grid in a yurt can, your choice really I guess in the end. PS: 1000lts/2200 Lbs water is a lot of weight, pig sty your plentiful log supply and they will be rock solid stands.

People rag on your clickbait! Nickys a baby! Please ignore the petty people! I absolutely love your journey jake! Was blown away by leaving U. S. A. forever after what you did in tempe! This so much better than caca poo poo on boob tube! Wonder if cutting fireplace diameter trees would make firewood chore simpler, then cut to lengths to carry close to home then recut for fireplace size. See stove for on top of coleman stove should work on fireplace.

Is it me? maybe my hearing hahaha but near the end I could barely hear you Jake, did you find out the classification or the identity or name of that mushroom. That is so cool you're learning all that and then. sharing the information too would be awesome high five to you both! Nicole you're just amazing, very much a kindred spirit, at my age though and then. watching you two. I'm not even my age LOL -

Add a screen on the top of your container to keep the debris out of your tote. Much easier to clear it before it gets to the bottom of the tote. Additionally, many types of insect breed in standing water, so there's that too. I know you aren't using it for drinking water, but anything that keeps it cleaner is better for your purposes.

The opening videos are super nice. I used to boat in this area, can't say enough about picking this place to set up. I live in much the same area of rainforest, only because I've had enough snow and like the idea of spring coming in mid-February.

Another tip. When using the circular saw, adjust the blade so that only about 1/2 inch is seen under the cut. There will be less drag and friction on the blade. Battery will last longer too.

Hi, do you have any plans on how to manage the insects once you are set up? I was wondering about and plants you can grow that repel insects or natural predators you can encourage or attract?
